Just for fun, and based on a personal experience this morning,
Do you take note of whether or not there is a roll on the holder:
A) before you sit down?
B) as you sit down?
C) when it is too late?

Usually A. When I’m distracted or in a hurry, I’ve occasionally resorted to C.
As I am sitting down. I wouldn’t be there unless there was some urgency,
D. I ask my wife if we have plenty, before I approach the jon.
She “handles “the paperwork in our house.
A. When you go to public toilets often this becomes second nature.
A. I’ve had years of experience in this field.
I am always quite conscious of where we’re at on the toilet paper. We keep our toilet paper right next to the toilet so theres really never any reason to worry except when we’re on the last roll. It’s stupid that we even ever let it get that low, but we do. Just last week we ran out completely. I was going to ask the question on here “What is the least amount of toilet paper that could be on the roll that you would still take a shit?” I know it’s gross, but I had to answer the question myself when that happened and it was quite a learning experience lol.
Gailcallled, I saw this paper ad on tv and that’s the way they spelled it.
“John or Jon”......that is the question.
Even though I am told that anything goes today in the “write-it-any-way—I- want” arena, I believe in sticking to the old traditions, which (or wich or witch, does it matter?) is John.
There is a wonderful Quaker summer camp (Camp Darkwater) in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey which has only outhouses. They are all named after real Johns. One is “The John Harkins,” who was the long-time head of the lower school at Germantown Friends. He considered it one of his claims to fame.
A – is for Always.
I even make sure there is a spare within reach. I am never surprised.
@LuckyGuy lol, just in case things really get out of hand
Always, always, always before I sit down. And I often change it before it’s gotten to the end and leave the small roll on the counter, so other people will see it and use it first.
Unfortunately for me, it is C. It’s only happened a few times where I was all out, but I just don’t seem to look at it until afterwards. It’s a mistake I haven’t learned form. :P
Always A and my spares are in the cabinet within reach ;)
I get wiped, no need to check.
Always C and it’s never my fault, so I let the rest of the house know about it!
Just after i’ve completed the crossword.
At home we have toilet paper stands in both our bathrooms which stand where ever you want them to, and all the refills are within reach of the sitter.
Unfortunatly usually C, when it’s too late. At home, though, I’m prepared and I keep several rolls close to the toilet!
@YARNLADY – “and all the refills are within reach of the sitter.” – that’s nearly what we call it!
I try to remember to look at A, but sometimes if I am distracted or rushing around it has been C (oh that is annoying).
Always recon first. Sometimes there is no time and the mission goes through with great fury .And then there is always hope to depend on. I’ll find something.
Always A. And I might be the only person in my family that knows how to replace the darned things.
But now the age old question. When you put the replacement roll of paper on the spool, which way does the paper hang? Over or under?
I vote for under. I’m OC enough to hate it over, because it is hardly ever torn of correctly, and by placing it under you don’t have to look at the end. (yes, I know it’s sad of me to think that! :) )
@GracieT – somehow I seem to tear it at the dotted line. You would be comfortable at my house.
At home I can assume there is a supply within reach, maybe in two places (‘dispenser’ roll and supply stash).
Anywhere else I’ll make sure I know where it is before anything else.
