What is Track ID music recognition?

Have you used it? What did you think of it? How does it work? It sounds amazing.

I think Track ID was/is a service by Sony/Ericsson (phones).
It let you put your phone (close) to a music source, after which it compared the just heard sound with a database.
If there was a match it sent you information about the artist/song to your phone.
I had it on my Sony 880i, a few years back, and it worked good (and made for a nice gadget to show to people, everyone was surprised/mesmerized).
Nowadays you can get exactly the same results with apps for your smartphone (Soundhound and Shazam).

@rebbel Thanks, I didn’t know this was even possible.

@flutherother I’m glad that I could be of service!

I have Track Id on my phone, and as @rebbel said it’s a Sony Ericsson :)
It also works directly from radio stations, and I love it.
