Why is it that highway patrol officers leave their motor vehicles running while on break at a food shop?
I walked into a Starbucks today and saw a highway patrol car in the lot running with no one inside. I thought nothing much of it. “They must be trying to avoid the long car line outside so they’re just ordering to go.” To my dismay, two highway patrol officers were sitting down in the corner enjoying, sipping lightly their drinks. Can someone help me understand how this is ok? Aren’t our tax dollars paying for the gasoline fuel up of these officers?

Who in their right mind is going to steal a police car?!?!
@hungryguy this idiot
I guess they leave the car running in case they have an emergency and have to run fast out of the donut or coffee shop.
@HungryGuy, you have a point. Unfortunately, how much of out general population could be considered to be in their right mind?
@chyna illustrates my point nicely with her video. Little mister qualifies, I think, as not being in his right mind (though I enjoyed the fancy footwork). The final piece of brilliance of trying to left on the left of a vehicle turning left elevates him to f***ing idiot. Mere, plain old, basic idiocy could not accomplish all this.
Write a letter to the editor of your local paper. Sounds like a total lack of concern for the city budget to me. Complain.
@chyna – Awesome video! He’s going to jail for a l-o-o-o-o-ng time!
In my department, we have orders that your vehicle cannot be left unattended and running. Actually, its a state law.
But, all departments are not the same or have the same orders.
We use to do this because of maybe a pending call, a K-9 Offficer for the health of his dog, inclimate weather, or to keep the cars computers in a cool atmosphere.
We do not do these anymore, except K-9 cars.
