For those jellies who are on a Medicare Advantage Plan, what private provider are you using?

Asked by Brian1946 (32638points) March 15th, 2012

Even if you aren’t on a Medicare Advantage Plan and have some information about this, please feel free to post it.

Are there any plans that you recommend?

If there aren’t any that you recommend, which one would you consider to be the least of all evils?

The benefit of a Medicare Advantage Plan is to reduce your cost, but you want to make sure that it covers what you want/need. The first trick is to make sure that the plan includes the doctor(s) you want to see. The second is to ensure that the Part D benefit includes all the drugs that you take and doesn’t jam them into more expensive tiers that will increase your costs. Also, you need to make sure that any plan someone recommends is available in your state.

I am aware of several people who are extremely satisfied with the United Healthcare plan through AARP. Remember that available plans change from year to year (what you like this year may not be available next year OR it may have changed so that your doctor/medications are no longer covered on next year’s plans). For this reason it is important to check your plan from year to year to make sure that it still meets your needs.
