Has anyone had a dog that has been cured of a small hair adenoma?

My dog had been diagnosed by the vet. Now its up to us to have it removed. I did some research online and several articles have said that it can sometimes go away by itself.
Has anyone tried any home remedies that have worked? The stange thing is that he has none of the symptoms mentioned in any of the medical sites. He doesn’t try to lick or scratch it. It doesn’t have pus nor is it painful or like an ulcer. Its just red and smooth and round and small. It’s right under his tail on the edge of his anus.

I never heard of it so I googled it and I didn’t find anything that sounded like what you are describing, do you have a link? It sounds to me as if it could be a hemorrhoid, or just a pimple of some sort. Sometimes and abscessed anal gland will cause an external symptom but I am not sure where exactly this little lump is. Do you trust this vet, have you had other satisfactory dealings with her/him in the past?
They did a blood test and told me that is what it was. They sent it off to the lab. That is why I am concerned. I asked them what he had and they spelled it out for me to look it up. He has absolutely none of the symptoms. That is why I am confused and don’t know if I should put him through the operation. They said it’s not dangerous and is common in a dog that is 10 but I wonder if they might’ve had a lab mix up.
It looks like a blood blister.
This is one of the sites http://www.ehow.com/about_6672200_treatment-tumors-neutered-male-dogs.html
Get a second opinion. 10 is getting on in dog years and I wouldn’t put my dog through anything he didn’t need to go through.
@chyna Well I’m going to speak with another vet tomorrow who the case was referred too. Its just too strange that every site said its painful or annoying and my dog doesn’t even mind when its touched or even when the doc drew blood from it. The only time my dog notices it, is with my cleaning of it. Doc told me to keep it clean and my dog doesn’t mind but I’m sure he has questions as to why I’m suddenly interested in whats back there.
Keep us posted on this. I’d really like to know what it is and if you really need to have it removed.
What prompted you to take him to the vet if he was not licking or scratching at the area?
My almost 15 year old has little lumps and bumps and warts all over but she doesn’t worry them so I don’t worry about them. None in the specific area you mention though.
I am such a skeptic these days. Sometimes I think vets (and doctors) go overboard. It is so hard to know what to do. I know I would feel terrible if my dog had a problem and there was something that could be done but I opted not to do it. As @chyna says, please keep us posted, I am curious to know what the outcome is.
Good luck. You are a good dog parent!
@rooeytoo I was washing him when I noticed the red swelling. I didn’t remember seeing it at his last bath, so it seem to come out rather quickly. I bathe him every 10 to 14 days.
I took him in for his regular sceduled vaccinations and decided to ask the doc about it. I asked if it was a blood blister and she said it was an odd place for once and asked if I wanted it screened. I said sure and that is how it all started.
UPDATE, Thank you all for your answers and concern. My dog has just had his surgery today and is doing fine. He will be home tomorrow. Doc said everything went well
YEAH! Thanks for the update @Pandora. :)
I can’t wait to get him home tomorrow and spoil him. I was a ball of nerves. I felt like Judas taking him in. He climbed all over me and was shaking like a leaf. Nurses must’ve gotten a laugh though. I took in a towel and a toy for him so he can smell home. :( I wanted him to hopefully be comforted by smell since I could not be there to comfort him.
But I’m so happy he is fine. I was worried because he had a bad time with being put out the last time. I think he was given too much gas the last time. But I can rest now that I know he will be fine and I don’t have to worry about that tumor anymore.
Good news, thanks for sharing!!!
