Did you want to run out and purchase a Britannica when you heard they won't be printing them anymore?

Yes! But I don’t have that kind of money for them laying around. Our family owns a set of encyclopedias from the 70’s, so yeah, still wondering what happened to the whole West and East Germany thing.
I see Britannica’s death as a good thing.
Care to elaborate oh one-liner jellies?
I do understand the expense aspect – wow – it costs a pretty penny. I cherish my World Book.
No more than I felt the need to run out and buy cassettes.
@zensky – Sorry about the one-liner.
I see the death of the print encyclopedia as a good thing because it has long outlived its usefulness. Imagine reading about a topic – anything – in a book that hasn’t been updated. What benefit is there in the static, printed copy?
Also, it’s not searchable. It’s a waste of trees, and it’s expensive.
I got rid of all of my encyclopedias years ago. They weighed a ton, took up yards of valuable book shelf space and were barely getting used. It should be noted that I homeschool. If I can’t find a use for them, my guess is that not many can.
Heck, I love words and etymology and even got rid of my best dictionaries. I now only have children’s dictionaries on the shelves.
God no. I assume I can still access it online? If so, then why on earth would I want to further clutter my small apartment with a giant set heavy, wasteful books that will be out of date soon? Who am I, Rockafeller Romney?
In general, I’m not a huge Britannica fan. I’m glad it’s out there, but I almost always get better answers from somewhere else.
No. I actually had a set from 1985, and a few years ago I donated them to my local library.
@zensky Sorry. They are outdated, like @tom_g said. And not to sound like some teenager, but it’s just easier to use the internet lol.
@Blackberry that’s exactly the reason why they’re not publishing them any more.
@downtide Cool, so I don’t sound like some ungrateful child of the technological age lol.
