What are the best web sites to get help with Apache, PHP, and MySQL?

Asked by HungryGuy (16044points) March 24th, 2012

I’ve tried a few, but most are ghost towns and/or filled with spam.

No offense Fluther, but Fluther isn’t a haven for LAMP geeks…

stackoverflow is the best site programming q & a site I know of. Looks like there is a fair amount of LAMP-related questions there.

@tom_g – Thanks! I registered at stackoverflow a while back and asked a question about Apache, but never got an answer. I’ll try again…

Good luck. Admittedly, I’m a .NET developer that hasn’t done PHP/MySQL development in years. Hopefully the PHP/MySQL/Apache community has a strong enough presence there to actually answer the questions. For .NET it’s an invaluable resource.

I did some Visual Studio ASPX.NET development a while ago. Super easy to design everything visually! But for personal use, I can’t afford it, and I don’t want to develop my own sites on a proprietary platform and be forced to use only IIS with ASPX extensions (though those assumptions may have changed since I last did it). I’m a fervent advocate of open source :-)

In addition to Stack Overflow and constant googling:

If you can put up with the ads, I like SitePoint (and their books are a lot easier to slog through as well).

I haven’t gotten to try anything there yet, but Treehouse looks promising as well for the learning portion.

I learn a lot on the php.net comments sections as well. Usually the problems I’m having, someone else has solved and posted a solution there.

I don’t know if it’s the best, but I’ve had great learning experiences at Lynda.com. It’s very affordable: $25/month, and their courses are extremely informative and easy to follow.
