Could the numbers be approximately the same?

It seems fairly even to me @ZEPHYRA .
(But that’s just an educated guess…after almost three years of swimming about.)
Rule 30 of the Rules of the Internet states “There are NO girls on the internet.”
Obviously this site has men and posers.
My guess would be more female regulars by a good bit.
I think it’s tough to tell because you’d have to know everyone and figure out how recently someone would have to be here to be counted.
I’m not sure, and I know that the list of people following me might not be an accurate cross section of the membership, but there are 34 women following me and 30 men.

I don’t know. I am often totally wrong about people’s genders. I have quite often discovered a person I thought was a man is a woman or vice versa! Similarly, I find out people I thought were young or old are the opposite.
It seems fairly evenly divided with a few in between.
I think I can remember the site statistics say there are slightly more women. We’ll never know accurately for sure though.
my guess is there are 3 more women than men. Did I win? Eventually I do win.
Milo here; I too skew the statistics, remember?
Hmm, it seems pretty equal to me.
Wouldn’t you have to count to find out? And how can you be sure, if you can’t always tell which is which? Part of the charm and mystique of Fluther.
I have a hard time telling since there is often time I swear someone is one sex then I find out after weeks and months of seeing their posts that they say what sex the are and its turns out to be the opposite of what I thought so you got me as to the count of each.
It seems like there are more women, but then that may simply have to do with the types of Q’s that I look at. Anything to do with technology (which is always like Klingon to me) is where the fellas tend to flock. I would be like a jelly out of water in there. There’s a handful of terrific men that always jump into the relationship Q’s, but I don’t think most of our male members (ooops that sounded naughty) hang out on those Q’s. The cooking Q’s seem to attract ¾ female, ¼ male.
But when you look at the lurve party Q’s, there seems to be an equal dispersion of males to females.
This has lots of variables, I mean how many of the women look like men & vice versa?

I see a lot of men on here and very few women, but maybe I am mostly perusing ‘men’ questions. /shrug
@ratboy I thought you were a rat posing as a 16yr old boy?!~
I see more men than women.
But who knows.
Maybe the women are waiting for us to say something they don’t agree with then they will speak up….like it is in real life!
It’s too bad @johnpowell isn’t around still. I’ll bet he could figure it out.
So according the information at @Keep_on_running‘s link:
fluther tends to be much younger, more educated, slightly less affluent, and have a higher proportion of females than the internet as a whole.
And is about 55% female overall (in response to this question).
Why more educated yet less affluent though? Personality? Just age?
@funkdaddy Because of there being more females who usually make less money? Or because people get addicted to this and stop working at their jobs?
@janbb That’s what happened to me. I’ve stopped working so I can Fluther all day.
@funkdaddy – we seem to have a lot of people here who are still studying. So perhaps people are still working towards the career they eventually hope to work in and where they will earn more money?
I think the balance seems pretty, well, balanced. ;-)
It is difficult to say since there are many users on here whom I’m not even sure of their sex or gender. From what I see it seems close to equal.
Whatever you do, don’t count me. I’m just a cat.
