Minor problem linking my new Google account to my Youtube account?

Asked by flash74686 (478points) March 24th, 2012

Previously, the Youtube account I’ve had for years was linked to a hastily made google account when it became required. Now, the university I’ve just enrolled in uses gmail for their student accounts, so I thought it would be easier to just unlink my old account and link it to my new edu address.

But ever since I’ve done so, when I go to the Youtube homepage, I see this: http://tinypic.com/r/35a7otg/5 but if I scroll down, I can see the videos from my subscriptions that had been there before I re-linked my account. It hasn’t been long enough for me to know if new videos will appear there or if those are just somehow left-over from when I last signed in using my old account. When I click the drop-down menu by my Youtube username and go to my subscriptions that way, they all show up, but when I click the link on the page I showed you (0 Subscriptions >) it brings me to a page that says I don’t have any subscriptions yet.

I’ve done my best to find the solution in the Youtube/google help, but it really hasn’t been ‘help’ful at all. Has anyone had this problem before? Am I subscribed to these channels or aren’t I?

I think those may be your video recommendations from Youtube. Like, when you watch a video, it comes up with related videos. Or they may be from your old account, like you said.
It could be just a glitch in the system, too.
The information being sent to your computer from the Tube is not reaching your computer somehow, so it says ‘you have no subscriptions’.
It’s just a slight connection problem between the Tube’s computer and your computer.
Don’t try to fix it though. Let the professionals do it.
Best of Luck,
