Meh, I would fuse these 10 into 1: general misogyny.
There are other things, like torture, religious fundamentalism, warmongering, the death penalty, predatory capitalism and the average body mass making elephants feel thin.

I was expecting the usual “America baaaaadddddddd because imperialism and McDonald’s and guns and everyone there is bad and stupid America baaaaadddddddd” stuff, but I was pleasantly surprised when I actually read the article. I agree with the points raised in through article.

Honestly, I really hate to see polls and questions like this. So many people have opinions about Americans based on everything but actually getting to know some.

They think that movies and TV and even the US Government itself accurately represents average Americans… they do not!

One reason I like international sites like this… you can actually communicate one on one with people from all over the world and get more of the real scoop about how people are.

I would suggest doing that instead of reading more propaganda.

The title is inaccurate and deceptive. This is a rage-editorial by an American woman against Christian conservatives on one specific umbrella issue, not an international viewpoint on our political BS.

Not that I disagree with her viewpoints, but it’s not really high on the journalistic quality scale when you don’t deliver what your headline is.

The US is not nuts. Some folks who live here, however, certainly are. And in a free and open society, for better or for worse, you wind up hearing from them. Sort of like this guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs23CjIWMgA

I read this when it came out, and thought it was poorly titled. There are far better reasons that the rest of the world thinks the US is nuts; the ones on this list are only some related to women.

We already know this. We’re just the good guys in the comic-book style battle that is sane people versus conservatives.

Misleading title.

But, I can follow her on Twitter, so that’s good.

From over here on the other side of the world, I haven’t noticed that “the rest of the world” considers the US nuts. There is anti american sentiment, there is anti german sentiment, there is anti everything sentiment expressed by some people in some places. Gross generalization, I’d say.

Bad title, interesting article.

What is the bill number the blogger was writing about concerning the Georgia state senate? I looked and couldn’t find anything about the issue of requiring women to have spontaneous abortions. I’d love to read the bill she said they were debating. Thanks anyone who can guide me here.

” So many people have opinions about Americans based on everything but actually getting to know some.” True of every country. We’re all guilty of it to some degree or other. Time to get out the salt shaker and take a grain or two.

I intensely dislike abortion, but I see no other way than to give women control over the decision to have one or not. Any other way is telling a woman what she can or cannot do with her own body.

Every country has some crazy stuff going on. In Germany on a freeway you will see BMW drivers doing 130 mph getting upset when approaching a Porsche in front of them doing 110 mph and blocking the left lane.

ragingloli's avatar

That usually makes foreigners envious.

Some of them, yes, but they are a car-crazy minority.
