What small thing made you happy today?

Sometimes it’s the little things that make us the happiest. I’ve personally had a tough couple of days, but insignificant things (like an unexpected 15-minute thunderstorm, and the pair of shoes that I just ordered on Sunday and didn’t expect to arrive for a week coming in the mail today instead [and being more amazing than I imagined!]) really turned my frown upside down.
So, what small stuff put a grin on your face today?

I made a lemon cke with chocolate filling and vanilla butter cream frosting.
Last night, I got good sleep.
I just had a nice workout.
My son is in a happy place today.
Little things have a way of adding up into great happiness for me.
I have three kinds of purple flowers blooming together in the back yard.
I woke up to a lovely redhead this morning.
I swam 500 yards today, that’s 60 yards more than my previous best.
My bean plants are starting to sprout up and I’m excited to make bean salad once I harvest them. :)
Sharing a bird toy (that I made) with a friend at work who also has a bird.
After we had radish seeds popping some days ago (and none of the other seven or so vegetable seeds), today we had small green leafs from the carrots in the container!
Singing (songs that you hate, of course) with my friend in AP US was fun, and I backed out of/pulled into the driveway successfully on my first try! And going to Wonderbook with you, of course! :-)
Eating lunch outside in glorious sunshine.
My tulips are finally blooming and our yard is freshly mowed.
My subordinates informed me that after slight course corrections, the asteroid known to you apes as 99942 Apophis, will now definitely impact your worthless planet on the 13th of April in 2036 of your primitive calendar. My people are celebrating this right now by raping countless abducted human apes. A truly glorious day.
My lilacs survived the 15 degree night Monday and most of the area orchards came through with only mild damage.
I was eating at a restaraunt that I have written into my most recent novel and a guy who looks exactly like the antagonist walked in. In the story, the antagonist frequents that restaraunt. I chuckled.
Taking an early Spring evening walk to a pizza place and picking up a sub for supper because that was just what I felt like doing.
The shoes I ordered are supposed to get here today too! :)
@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard You chuckled?? Man, that would have freaked me out! I’d be wondering, is my book coming to life…? Ha, cool though. :)
So today I received a late birthday present from a Fluther member, who’s also a great friend. All the Misfits CD’s! ^^
@AshLeigh I may get arrested for this but I might like it.
@Symbeline That’s awesome! Was it the boxset or just individual CDs?
For me, it was listening to this riff
It’s like a mantra for me now. Whenever I get in a bad mood, I just immediately play this riff in my head.
I made cookies.
Everyone I live with left to go to Alabama this afternoon. So I’ve been jammin’ loud loud music.
I made myself a delicious sandwich and got to hang out on my couch and eat with while enjoying my city’s famous summer beer they just released. That was all lovely.
I plan on walking around in my undies later. And watching Netflix on the big tv, and probably sleeping on the couch. I live in the basement and never get to do these things in my house, lol, so I’m super stoked! The whole week will be like this!
My wife smiled at me and massaged my hip, which is causing me a great deal of pain lately.
I snuck out of work and had breakfast at a diner with hubby.
The neighbor who has never acknowledged me before, stopped us in the parking lot of the local StopRite and engaged us in conversation about her cats and dogs.
Hubby served me dinner and poured me a glass of brandy. Nice.
@Akua The neighbor thing is very positive! Sounds like a good day all around!
@Akua I grew up in a redneck town. They don’t like anything different. Me, I love the diversity of life. Hang in there.:)
Wife was successful in having one bad vein taken out of her left leg. The other vein in two weeks. She is suffering with less pain and that makes us both happy.
No, I just don’t mind letting the woman lead at times. I was kidding about the kicks. Those shoes are scary.
The shoes are awesome. But apparently their idea of a 7, and my idea of a 7 is different. XD They’re too big!
My granddaughter saying “Grandpa, Really?”
I got my paperwork back from the accountant and I’m getting back over $1200!
good sleep
less hormones
good visit with Ma
Good phone call with trumpet player
@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard Something similar to that happened to me a while back. I was writing some scenes scene in a story set in Camden, London, and I needed a pub. So I looked up a list of pubs in Camden and picked one at random from the list. Now this pub in my story is run by a couple of gay guys and has a lot of gay customers. So last week I happened to be in London with a bit of spare time so I decided to visit Camden and of course I had to visit that pub. And it just happens to be just one of the main gay pubs in north London. Perfect!
I talked to two of my three girls today, when they were so sleepy they sounded sort of like they did when they were very young. That made me smile. :)
@downtide, Haha that’s awesome. It’s really funny how that works out, isn’t it?
Another one here with planting happiness. That almost every seed of spring onion I’ve planted has sprouted and really quickly too. Can’t wait until I have a nice circle of them. :)
Discovered that my kid has more patience with writing in cursive than printing, so I am hopeful his ‘I hate writing’ phase will stop.
A two minute phone conversation with my boyfriend this morning.
Also my new hardware arrived today. this is my new cpu cooler. Over 15cm wide.
@ragingloli
That’s pretty awesome, I should get one of those. I just recently super-glued some tiny squares of furniture felt underneath my laptop on both sides to hoist it up a centimetre and allow better ventilation. Because 10 minutes into playing a graphics-intensive game it overheats and shuts down…
You need to open the laptop, clean it, especially the fans and ribs of the cooling unit and apply new thermal paste to the cpu.
I did the first part, but I don’t know what thermal paste is. I’ll go research it.
Work – surprisingly enough.
Giving @jerv, @nitro and @Qingu a place to argue economic theory. link
The underpants I washed dried super quick in the sunshine.
I heard one of my favorite songs on the radio on the way to work this morning. :)
@downtide You’re talking about the Black Cap aren’t you? I love that place.
@Bent Yes, yes I am. And it is. I’ll be back in London in July and intend to visit it again.
I volunteer at the RedCross in a fixed donation site. That way we have donors I see often. They become friends. I have several that I look forward to
seeing, and today I will see many of them. They always bring a smile to my face!
I sang well at rehearsal.
My freshly bathed little doggie snuggled up under my arm during the night so when I work up this morning, a little fuzzy bundled with shiny eyes was looking up at me.
Today I went to look at some cats at the local shelter. That was great fun.
Saw my grandchildren, and sang kiddy songs with them.
Found out my SO is planning a special, secret gift for my birthday; I’m excited =)
I have plans with my best friend today, and I don’t get to see her that much, so I’m pretty excited! :-)
DQ Ice Cream? I think yes.
My tenants are gone, and my rental house is still in one piece.
Four mile walk with a new friend on the boardwalk yesterday and a 4–5 mile hike in the mountains with family today. I am covered in virtue! Also, my great-niece who is two slept over last night and she is just a delight to be with! A stellar weekend!
The look on my husbands face when he woke up to find I cooked a 3 course dinner AND triple chocolate fudge cupcakes. Priceless!
I had one of those “belly ache” laughs.
Hurray, @Auggie! Congratulations on losing the tenants, and good riddance.
Don’t have to suffer through Bills Health class for the rest of the week, because of highschool qualifying exams? Worth it.
My boyfriend told me I looked like Cher today. That’s a massive compliment to me even if it wouldn’t be for many others!
Well Cher is a very striking looking woman and has (had?) a slammin’ body! I would take that as a compliment. Nice :-)
My dog gave me a big morning kiss… it made me smile if in a kind of icky way.
@Akua and @Bellatrix I agree with both of you but if I tell my colleagues who stunning I think Cher is they look at me like I’m crazy!
I treated a very depressed friend to a manicure and pedicure while I had one at the same time. I enjoy spending time with this friend and was happy that she enjoyed herself. I think that she felt better about herself, which made me happy.
Very sweet @GracieT .
I woke up and saw deer on my front lawn. They stared at me for a good 15 seconds before running into the woods. Glorious, graceful creatures!
Someone actually flashed their headlights and let me in during rush hour traffic this morning. I have been thinking about that all day.
And I found a FREE parking space in front of my doctors office in the afternoon in Midtown Manhattan.
I came home and for once the dishes were already washed.
I have no complaints today.
I picked up my girls for a week long visit. Yay for spring break!
@Akua you have good driving/parking karma indeed !
Your report of unexpected civility made me happy.
@dabbler making you happy made my day. Thanks.
Passing my Writing HSGQE? Yes.
Walking off campus after, again, like a rebel? Maybe. :D
Memories of this date, 20 years ago. It’s our wedding anniversary. =)
@jonsblond Congrats. That’s very very nice. It’s also a big thing that made me smile today.
@Adirondackwannabe & @Akua Thank you!
Just got a text from my husband. He got a raise. It’s a really good day for us! and I’m a mega millions winner. I won $2! haha
My dog has started to respond well to the clicker. She has been afraid of it up until now but I found a broken one at work which has a very quiet click so she coped much better with that. I think they are such an affective training tool that I wanted to persist with it without making her fear even worse so, to begin with, not only was it much quieter than a normal one, I had it behind my back to muffle the sound even more. She is also becoming much better at dealing with noise since some kids moved in next door. She is become desensitized and I am noticing such a change in her. She seems much more relaxed with life! Long may it continue because she hasn’t been the easiest of dogs to settle in to normal day to day stuff!
My SO told me he thinks I’ll be a good wife =)
Today was a meeting of my “HomeChuch,” a small group of people from my church. We become close to the people in our HomeChurch, get to know them, their lives, their triumphs, their sorrows. That way we aren’t always with people that we don’t know, we have an opportunity to become partners in life. Anyway, in this case I was with some good friends and being with them made my day.
My daughter is home from school for 2 days! She is so beautiful and grown up looking I just want to grab her and cover her face with kisses! But she is Autistic and would never allow that, lol. (She DID give hubby a peck on the cheek with some begging though).
We’re celebrating Passover tonight, which is always a good time, so I’m excited! :-)
I got off work early. That’s always cool. And before a big Easter weekend, too. :)
I was woken up this morning by my boyfriend calling me. He was out walking his dog fairly early and wanted to say hi even though I will be seeing him later :) it’s better than waking up to an alarm!
