I have a prescription for an x ray that was issued last April can I still use it?

Asked by silky1 (1510points) April 2nd, 2012

I need to have surgery on my feet, and have been delaying. The x rays need to be done first.

I would consult with your doctor and health care/insurance provider at the least. Years back when it was discovered I had had a herniated disc, my Ortho gave me a prescription for the steroid shot given under X-ray he said I could use if and when the pain became too great. I re-injured that part of my back 7 mos later and used the prescription.

Call the center where you would get the xray and ask.

If it was with Kaiser, it expires after 6 months. Oddly, so do a lot of patients insured with Kaiser.

More than likely not. This is common.
Contact the professional that wrote it and explain the situation. Get an up to date one written.

Change the date on the piece of paper.

@filmfann sometimes they just won’t die, no matter how old they are; then Kaiser really starts cutting back the service.

I take it you are not with Kaiser?
I wouldn’t touch any HMO with a 10-foot pole.

@anartist I am with Kaiser, as was my Mom when they misdiagnosed her pnemonia, which killed her.
