This followup question does little to help. Maybe you can tell us what exactly you are so upset about, and then we can respond. Is your question really about whether or not you like Verizon’s new $30 upgrade fee? Because if it is, we can discuss this. It certainly didn’t sound like this was really what this was about based on your original question, however.

The cell phone is a luxury item, not something that you are entitled to. You upgrade your phone, which you don’t really need to do, in order to have updated technology and impress people. You want the goods, you pay the price.
You sound like you believe you are entitled to something for nothing. You aren’t.
You are more than welcome to stay with the phone you have. You can get something even more basic and pay less.
You can start your own company and charge what you like. If your product is good enough, people will pay.

A phone is a want not a need. You are choosing to pay their fees and taxes. Also, the phone company has zilch to do with our Nation’s name.

BTW- I am an average person. I pick and choose what I want, and focus on filling my needs first.

I vote “Nay” for the reasons others have given. As a consumer it is your responsibility to find the best deals for yourself, if you don’t like certain fees, then either stop using their product or find an alternative.

You are playing the blame game @Sponge. FEES have nothing to do with our Nation’s taxes.

Take responsibility for your choices. If you want to fill a want you will do so at a cost. You choose to buy things that have fees attached. The reason the gov’t has you pay fees or taxes is due to the fact that the item is not a need.

If you don’t want banking fees, use a credit union.

If you don’t to pay upgrade fees, use a different phone.

You buys the product, you pays the freight.

Taxes are what yu pay for government services. I bet you are using some.

Stop whining about fees. People go into business to make money. Do you think businesses exist just to provide you with free stuff? You get what you pay for. If you don’t like fees, go without.

The tax rate is lower than it’s been in 80 years. Revenues as a percent of GDP are lower than they have been since the Great Depression. What will it take for those who went continuous tax breaks for ever to realize you can’t have your cake and eat it too. Bankrupting the nation?
