Suggestions on nice leather boots?

Asked by Ltryptophan (12091points) April 17th, 2012

What are some good boots in your experience? They don’t need to be cowboy style. Hiking boots aren’t what I want either, just some tough super comfy boots, that look decent.

Will you expand on what you are looking for? When would you wear them? Indoors or out? At school or work? Would you prefer something with a heel? A good tread?

If you don’t mind spending some money, Doc Martens are very comfortable, rugged, and stylish. A cheaper, purely functional option is police or military surplus. Because their footwear has to be functional, it’s guaranteed to be comfortable and rugged, but because it’s also made by a lowest-bidder, it’s not going to be especially stylish.

I like Chippewas. Made in USA. I have a pair I use for working outdoors and cycling in the winter. With regular Nikwax waterproofing treatment, they are holding up great.

I have always been a fan of workboots.

I’m a cowboy/western boots type a gal. Comfy, they go with everything and a good pair lasts a lifetime. A little pricey but worth it in the long run.

For men. Around $200 max. I need them to act as protection for my feet from anything life throws at me. Waterproof, good lucking, sturdy construction, plain styling, able to be hiked in, all of the above.

Thank you for the clarification. Merrell’s selection of boots fit the description, including price. They are the most comfortable brand I have ever donned on, and it is now practically all that I own. Unless they fall prey to an unforeseen incident, and it would have to be serious, they should last a long, long time.

I think Merrell’s boots are not my style. But I know they have exceptional quality. I want something less manufactured looking, but still great quality.
