Only include the costs of CDs, records, cassettes, 8 tracks, and MP3s. (For example, if you downloaded music “for free” off places like Pirate Bay, don’t include your internet costs.) Don’t include the cost of attending a concert to listen to music. Trying to get responses in terms of owning music media. Don’t include satellite music services either.
So, if you bought one CD per year @ $12 per CD, then your answer would be $60.

I have 572 songs on my iTunes account, not including songs I’ve taken from CDs that I own. Though I share that account with my sisters, I’d say I’ve bought about 350 of those songs total, and I pay for all of my iTunes music. Given the fact that about 250 of those were purchased after iTunes raised their song price from 99 cents to $1.29, I’d say I’ve spent about $422 on music over the course of the past five years. Though that’s obviously been spread out over the five years, and some of it has been from using gift cards that were given to me, that’s still a ridiculous amount to spend on music once it’s all added up!
I know that “no one pays for music anymore”, but I don’t feel comfortable downloading music for free, so I don’t.
LimeWire and Youtube Converter. That’s all.
Not very. We are still in the last century in our house, no MP3 players or anything. I’ve probably bought a total of 5 CDs in that time.
I would say I have spent $20, and that includes making my mom a CD, which was $10 of the $20. If I include what my husband has spent add another $50 and he also bought an Ipod shuffle a few years ago. I think it was $75, not sure.
I’m another iTunes user and have downloaded at least 300 songs into my iPod. Let’s just assume that each one cost $1.99 (some are more, some are less, and some I downloaded as the full CDs which are around $12.00). Yikes, I hate to think of how much I’ve spent on it. And it wasn’t even in the last 5 years – more like the last 3 years.
Do you want me personally, or my family? Looks like I’ve spent all of $10 in the last five years. My daughter has spent around $86. Of course, not all expenditures may be properly coded.
Anyway, as you can see, we are big spenders.
