One puts it to one’s eye and looks at a gem with it.
I also would like to know how one learns exactly what to look for. How would one tell a fake from a real diamond, even if had one of those… things.
I’m fascinated by stones, and only wish I could learn to cut them myself. I feel like this is a guild of some sort.
Any information at all would probably only serve to further whet my interest.
