Know how to make carrots taste good?
I hate carrots. Raw, cooked, and covered in ranch dressing, ew. Anyone have any way to cook or season carrots? It might help if you hate carrots too, and like them a certain way. Let me know!

Juice them.
In juice, to me all things taste good or neutral.
Saute young, tender carrots in butter and brown sugar.
^mmmm…I add a pinch of cinnamon, too.
I also like them in roasts @HarryPotterFreak. They make everything else a bit sweeter.
I like cooking them in water that barely covers them. Add lemon juice and a bit of grated peel, and then a bit of sugar and butter at the end to kind of caramelize them slightly..
Like @SpatzieLover said, juice them. The juice is so sweet.
Otherwise, you really can’t beat a plain raw carrot. Are you sure you have had fresh carrots?
Yeah, make a fruit smoothie or something, but put some carrots in it.
If you live near a farmer’s market, get carrots from there. More expensive, but you’ll notice the taste.
A universal trick to making vegetables taste good is to caramelize them. Coat the carrots in oil, salt, pepper and maybe a little sugar, then throw them in a very hot oven, maybe 475 degrees. Roast them until they are well-browned, turning once or twice, for about 20 minutes. You could do them whole or, if they’re very thick, cut them into smaller chunks—nothing too small though or they’ll overcook.
I recently attended an Italian cooking class in which the instructor showed us how to make delicious spaghetti sauce using shaved raw carrots cooked into the sauce as a sweetener. It was really delicious (and except for the fact that I saw those things going into the sauce as it was being cooked, I never would have known).
@CWOTUS I add grated carrots & zucchini to my lasagna.
@HarryPotterFreak You might like carrot muffins or carrot cake to begin to braoden your taste buds.
I also like Dutch hutspot. Just boil your carrots and potatoes together, drain and mash with salt, pepper, butter, milk. It just makes pale orange mashed potatoes with a nice, sweet flavor. Reminds me of a dreamsicle.
Real butter and no garlic.
Grow long floppy ears, big front teeth & say…..“what’s up doc” a lot.
Roasted like @Qingu says. Put a little hommus on them. The best.
I love carrots. I am not sure how to make you like them. One preparation is to sprinkle the carrots with curry powder and a little brown sugar. Add plenty of butter.
Butter and cumin makes them delicious, I think.
Maybe you would like glazed carrots. I like carrots all other ways but glazed – maybe you’ll feel the opposite.
Raw carrots in hummus is a super delicious and healthy snack! There are tons of different flavors of hummus too, so you can switch it up if you get bored or want to try something new.
Make carrot cake or muffins.
If you don’t like carrot cake with a killer cream cheese frosting you need help. lol
You can have the twinkie and sticks of butter, but we can’t tamper with nature’s goodness, lol.
@Skaggfacemutt That recipe is also fantastic with a little dijon mustard stirred in.
You can sneak chopped carrots into bolognese sauce. You won’t even taste them.
Mom used to make glazed carrots. Oh, how I hated those! I had no idea how good carrots could be until I started having them raw as nude carrot sticks, cut up on salads, or with a dip. Raw carrots are great.
Take one carrot and mix it with 50 gallons of ice cream. Delicious.
What is it that you dislike about them?
I agree with getting them young and fresh from the farmer’s market. The smaller, the better. Also take the green tips off as soon as you get them. The tops suck the nutrients out. Anything as big around as your thumb is a horse carrot, not meant for humans. Might as well be cardboard. Butter, brown sugar, and nutmeg.
Best way to eat them is straight out of the garden, rub the dirt off on your shorts or T-shirt and eat.
Why do you need to eat them? When I was growing more carrots than I could think to use in my garden, I started using them in mirepoix, carrot ginger soup, lentil soup, curried coconut butternut squash soup, in lentils under salmon, and then I didn’t have enough carrots for all the things I wanted to make.
But if you are just trying to acquire a taste for them, that won’t help much.
Juice apples and carrots. You could always add a bit of cinnamon or other spices (Ginger as suggested by @nikipedia would be great!).
Grate them into sauces and casseroles. You won’t even notice them.
Or… just don’t eat them if you don’t like them.
@deni what I don’t like about carrots is the carrot taste!
I love carrots, but since you do not, I’ll try to give some recipes that might be suitable for your palate.
Since I just answered your Q about fried pickles, I’m guessing that you like pickles. One of my favorite things in the whole world is pickled carrots (the kind that are often served in the salsa bars at Mexican restaurants). Here’s a recipe for Pickled Carrots with Garlic and Jalapeños
Another unusual and delicious prep for carrots is to eat them in soup. Check out this Gingered Carrot Soup
Although this recipe sounds fantastic for Thanksgiving, I would eat this year round. Maple Glazed Carrots
This sounds fantastic! Asian Carrot Salad with lemon/lime juice, soy sauce, ginger and sesame!
I also really enjoy the spicy/lemony/garlicky flavor of this Moroccan Carrot Salad
And last, but not least, check out this mouthwatering Butternut Squash, Carrot, Sweet Potato and Peanutbutter Soup (note: not sure if you are a vegetarian, but you can subsititute veggie broth for the chicken broth if you like). I am so craving this right now!
