Are you frigging kidding me by moderating a 13 year old's question about her possible pregnancy?
As is.
Let’s have a discussion about what’s important.

A 13 year old kid comes on here looking for help and you squash her question? You ever think she’s probably scared out of her gourd. Nice compassion.
Is this girl still about on here? hope shes ok
Umm, did you ask the moderation team privately before attacking? Do you think maybe there might be some behind the scenes discussion and resources given privately to the OP? Maybe some privacy issues for a minor?
I have no idea if there was, but after all this time, I’d think you’d give the moderation team the benefit of the doubt.
As @syz says, mods do not pull questions lightly. There are reasons. I have resigned from moderation so I do not know any details of the question you are referring to but I can toss some ideas out that might be possible:
The user might have asked the question to be removed out of fear of someone finding it.
The user might be a returning troll who is just posting to yank the chains of the members.
Just some thoughts.
@Dog It was a little texty, but it wasn’t bad. It got pulled in a hurry.
Dog, where did you go?
I am sitting right here. :D I have not gone anywhere. I just do not have time to mod anymore.
::::edit::::
Ha! Apparently I am not here anymore. That is funny! I am like a ghost posting from the grave!
@Dog I thought maybe the mod’s were pissed at me and messing with me.That’s freaky.
Ha ha ha! I am sure it will be cleared up. In the meantime I am a ghost! BOOOO!
@Dog Technically you have fluther immunity for a while. You can mess with anybody.
Chiming in late here; I have learned that it is always vital to hear both sides of a controversial before taking sides.
@gailcalled It wasn’t up to normal writing standards, I’ll agree, but it was written by a scared 13 year old dealing with some major issues. Can’t we have a little leeway when needed?
Also @Adirondackwannabe keep in mind that often Auggie and the other mods will work with kids in crisis in private too. Very often in fact.
@Adirondackwannabe: Are you sure that the writer was indeed a scared 13-year old? We have had people here, who come and go, often under new user names, who present scenarios that are fantasy or samples for a creative writing class. I used to keep a list, but it got too long.
There were several infamous quasi-flutherers who had us deluded for a long time.
@Dog: Not picking up your phone, are you?
Heh- nope. Anyway- I am taking off. I have a lot to do in this world. Hopefully the girl got her help- I am VERY confident our compassionate mods will help. Will see you guys out in cyberspace!
@Dog Couldn’t answer your pm.
@SpatzieLover From the post two above yours, it sounds like she left.
No. @Adirondackwannabe can’t reply due to the glitch on @Dog‘s account. If I weren’t showing up here, I couldn’t get a PM either.
@Adirondackwannabe It wasn’t up to normal writing standards, I’ll agree, but it was written by a scared 13 year old dealing with some major issues. Can’t we have a little leeway when needed? You’re assuming it was pulled for writing standards – the point is that it’s quite possible that it was pulled for an entirely different reason.
@Adirondackwannabe, I was not involved in this modding situation and have no idea why the question was pulled and since it is very early in the morning I can’t really be bothered going to look now. I will check when it is a decent time if no response explaining the decision has been provided. I do agree with the explanations above though.
Can I also say, I do wish you would message the mods before posting these accusatory questions. I am sure whoever pulled it had their reasons. If you are not happy with the response you receive after checking, then by all means instigate a post-mortem on the decision but check why it was made first.
I’ve been gone all day, sorry for my late response. After looking into this situation, we’re discussing better ways to handle stuff like this in the future. In the meantime, I’ll be offering the child my assistance in getting her question reposted and with resources in her area.
@Bellatrix My apologies. I have a temper and it gets the better of me at times. This one sounded genuine, my first thought on reading it was oh crap, and as I was thinking of a response it got pulled.
That’s okay @Adirondackwannabe. I think it is good that you raise these concerns with @augustlan or a moderator who is about privately. I am a great believer in reflecting on how we respond to situations whether it be on Fluther or elsewhere and mods are human. We may sometimes not see something that someone else does. All good learning experience. Sometimes, it may be we need to have a community discussion too.
@Bellatrix Good point, but this lady was scared and needed someone right then. Sometimes we have to commit. The question should have been better thought out. That was my temper. You didn’t see the first draft.
@Dog deleted her account completely? WTF?
^ Yep. I clicked and got the muncher – but it was probs for just a few hours or something – maybe a glitch? I dunno – where is she? Yoohoo – @Dog – everything good?
Probably one of the more persuasive flutterers wrote to @Dog and commanded, “Stay.”
Edit; that would be flutherers.
@Dog was trying to remove her mod banner (she doesn’t have a lot of free time these days), and accidentally disabled her account. It’s back, now. :)
Phew. Disaster avoided. Disabling an account can be a nightmare – I wouldn’t know what to do next.~
