What's the best, free photo editing software you can get?

Something like photo shop only free?

http://www.gimp.org/ is probably the closest to photshop.

Now, I don’t use GIMP, but I have astrophotography friends who do. They say it’s not that easy to use, but then again, neither is Photoshop.

Might as well make it unanimous. Gimp. And best part iis it can be installed on a server where it can be accessed as a photo manipulation service. You can see Gimp at work here.

I’d say the learning curve is no steeper than that for Photoshop.

GIMP, hands down. It doesn’t have quite the same range of functions as photoshop, and it’s different enough to confuse you if you’re used to photoshop, but you’ll get the hang of it.

According to my co workers there are 10 to pick from , PhotoScape is in the #1 spot ,(2) Gimpshop 2.8 for windows (3) Paint.Net (4) Serif Photo Plus (5) Photo Pos Pro (6) Pixia (7) VCW VicMan’s Photo Editor (8) Photo Editor Pro (9) UIltimate Paint Shop (Shareware) & (10) Picasa , Personally I use GimpShop 2.8 .
