Are you or have you seen the movie The Avengers?

Asked by chyna (51566points) May 7th, 2012

A friend of mine thinks that most of America has seen or will see the movie except for me. I have no interest in seeing the movie. Am I the only person that will not see it?

No.
I like taking showers and I care about my hygiene.

4 Times.

And your friend was probably not talking about America. It was probably a worldwide thing.

I have not yet, but I do plan to. It has great reviews and I hear from everyone I know who has seen it that it was fantastic. Captain America was pretty great, so I’ll give this one a shot even though I’m usually not a fan of superhero/action-type movies.

Coloma's avatar

I’ll probably see it, sooner or later. I didn’t think I’d be interested but my 24 yr. old daughter put “Thor” and…forget a few others of the prequels on my Netflix and they were entertaining. I LOVE the “Iron Man” series.
Gotta be open, can’t turn into an old fogie before your time. ;-)

chyna's avatar

@Coloma I did like Iron Man. So, maybe, I’ll watch the movie.

wundayatta's avatar

I took my kids to see it. I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it. I saw the two Ironman movies and some transformers movies, and wasn’t all that impressed, but this one is in a different league. They actually managed to sell me…. ME on the reality and believability of the characters and the plot.

Robert Downey Jr was fantastic. Hit just the right self-aware ironic tone that enabled him to sell the whole thing. I wouldn’t say I loved it, but it was damn good.

@wundayatta Credit belongs to Joss Whedon for the characters’ great interaction. If you want more of that, you may try watching the Firefly TV series.

I’ve seen the movie twice, first 2D then 3D. I’ll watch it again during its last week of run. Anyone who loved comic books would be in nirvana most likely after watching it. I thank God ( and I’m agnostic ) for all the smart yet less known people who made this advent of digital sfx happened. Without them these comic book superheroes would not exist up there on the big screen. I love you special effects artists and inventors and yeah, you SMASH!

Jeruba's avatar

If I think of it, maybe I’ll rent it on Netflix. I’d say that’s a fairly weak maybe.

augustlan's avatar

It’s actually the first movie in years that I’m interested in seeing on a big screen. I never go to the movie theater anymore, but I’m looking forward to it for this one!

ucme's avatar

Nah, I prefer the real deal, Joanna Lumley was sooooooo sexy back then.

Bellatrix's avatar

I want to see it. I haven’t yet. I am not in the US though.

@ucme… I thought it was a remake of The Avengers when I first heard about it.

ucme's avatar

@Bellatrix Now there’s a tantalising thought, I wonder who’d fill the roles today…...

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

Nah. Don’t care for movies that much.

Blackberry's avatar

I thought it would be lame, but I was surprised. Most of the good action was towards the end, though.

Aesthetic_Mess's avatar

Yes, I saw it and thought it was pretty good.
I’m more of a DC fan myself, though.
But it was pretty good for a Marvel movie.

wundayatta's avatar

@ucme Ok, I have to confess that that’s who I actually thought I was going to see. Sometime during the previews I realized I had the wrong Avengers. And I still had a good time.

But seriously, who was the original woman in The Avengers? I thought she was dark-haired, not a blond. I thought she was very attractive when I was a boy.

ucme's avatar

@wundayatta That’d be this little cutey, aka Diana Rigg.
I started watching as a horny teenager when Joanna Lumley played Purdey & well, got the immediate hot’s for her.

wundayatta's avatar

Oh yes, @ucme! Dianna Rigg! Of course! That picture you posted still made my heart go pitty pat. Sorry. Lumley looks like a fake to me. Rigg is the real deal!

ucme's avatar

Yeah I prefer brunettes in real life over blondes, but like I say, Purdey came at the right time, if you pardon the pun.

wundayatta's avatar

Of course! We always pardon your puns, @ucme. ;-)

I was just looking up Dianna, and as she grew older, she became a blond. She didn’t look bad as a blond, but damn she was hot when young. She had a daughter in 1977, but her daughter, while an actress, did not inherit a whole lot of her looks.

OpryLeigh's avatar

I haven’t seen it but everyone around me seems to be talking about it. It’s not the type of film I would usually choose to go and see so I probably won’t.

Berserker's avatar

Fun fact you prolly already heard; this movie breaks all known opening records with a whooping $207.4 million.

Figures I’d be more interested in that than the movie itself. I might end up watching it, but right now I’m really gunnin’ for The Cabin in the Woods.

Imadethisupwithnoforethought's avatar

@Symbeline The Cabin in the Woods I think you will love.

Berserker's avatar

@Imadethisupwithnoforethought Planning it for this weekend. Apparently it’s got quite a twist to it.

chyna's avatar

@Symbeline It looks gory. I think I’d love it!

Imadethisupwithnoforethought's avatar

@Symbeline Don’t talk to anyone about the movie before you see it; if any one tries to hint punch them.

Berserker's avatar

@Imadethisupwithnoforethought Yeah. The guy who saw it wouldn’t say a thing lol. Can’t wait. :D

mazingerz88's avatar

@Symbeline The ending of Cabin in the Woods was blah blah blah blah and the big twist was blah blah blah blah!

Bellatrix's avatar

I so want to see The Cabin in the Woods now!

Imadethisupwithnoforethought's avatar

@Bellatrix & @Symbeline I just re-watched the trailer. Don’t. Don’t look at anything. Just go.

wundayatta's avatar

Is this a horror movie?

chyna's avatar

@wundayatta Which one? Avengers is a super hero movie. Cabin in the Woods is horror.

wundayatta's avatar

Yeah, Cabin. I saw The Avengers.

Imadethisupwithnoforethought's avatar

They are both created by the same guy and just happen to be coming out together.

Only138's avatar

I seen it….and I loved it. Very well done.

chyna's avatar

Apparently I am one of those four people.

augustlan's avatar

Me, three. :)

Bellatrix's avatar

Me Four! I still haven’t made it there.

augustlan's avatar

Well, that accounts for all four! Who knew we’d all be on Fluther. ~

Bellatrix's avatar

So, when are we going? We can’t remain the only four people on the planet who haven’t seen it? I will buy the ice cream.

ucme's avatar

We have a surplus here, i’ve never seen it & neither has the wife.

wundayatta's avatar

Clearly some of you are lying.

chyna's avatar

Ok, I finally saw it. It was okay. I wouldn’t watch it over and over as I’ve heard some people are doing.
