What all can (and should) I feed my new goat kids?
A list of what’s available for (all) the animals:
Salt
corn
dry bread
pasture grass and weeds
dandelion
weeds, weeds, weeds
vegetable oil
vegetable peels and scraps
kitchen scraps in general (already booked by poultry, etc..)
They new kids are two months and two and a half months old. French Alpine breed. Just been waned, but still looking for the thumbs that pass across their little snouts.
First night: fresh water, crushed dry bread and semi-dry grass, plenty of it all.
Should I for instance add salt to their food?
All knowledge welcome.
cheers mates

My husband’s business partner has two goats, and apparently they love cheetos, LOL!
They eat a normal diet of:
water
grass
hay
oats
barley
And I think they have some type of protein pellets.
Be careful with bread and similar foods. It’s high in salt for animals. Also watch the oils, they can have small amounts but not too much. It messes with their stomachs.
I used to have several Pygmy goats & I found that they really enjoyed having branches (like when you trim your trees or bushes) to nibble on. So I would drive my pick-up truck around the neighborhood & pick up the brush that people had cut out of their yards – my little goats loved this stuff like a kid loves candy! They also need to have stuff to climb on. I built a series of platforms around a central support & they used to play king-of-the-mountain, jumping from one platform to another. You need to be prepared, goats are really smart & they learn how to do things that you do not expect – but they are really cute & lovable, especially the kids (baby goats).
Well, it’s the wrong season, but my niece tells her friends to bring their Christmas trees to her goats after the holidays- the goats love them! The links above look like good info.
Who doesn’t like Cheetos…
