What are some generalizations you've heard?

Asked by Aesthetic_Mess (7894points) May 9th, 2012

That could actually be proven.
Of course, generalizations are just that, generalizations. They do not apply to every person and do not represent everyone.
But what are some you’ve ever heard that have rung true, or that could be proven or supported?

Everything alive will eventually perish.
Everybody alive kills regularly or is the beneficiary of regular acts of killing.

Some people justify their ignorance by claiming some stereotypes are true.

Do you mean like; Americans are fat – English people have bad teeth – Teenagers text and drive.

“Men always think about sex.”
Well, always, always; one needs to eat a few times a day as well….

@Skaggfacemutt Yeah, stuff like that. I know that generalizations aren’t true, but they are still used.

Girls/women are catty. Ooops just read your details. I don’t think this is true…at least NOT of me.

People with ginger pubes are giggly & have little or no moral fibre.

Canada is fuckin cold. But we don’t eat raw onions and chop down trees all day. At least, most of us don’t, anyways…and toques weren’t invented here, Tibet did it.

Seriously, I have no idea how to actually prove a generalization. They’re grossly mutated, but I do think there must some slight kernel of truth that started most generalizations out, eh? lol
