Do you and your significant other have an "our song"?
Forgive me if this has been asked before. My search was singularly ineffective. Ours is the jazz standard “My Funny Valentine.” Can other songs make you think of old loves?

Your song is pretty and a bit melancholy.
My wife’s and my song is “Always and Forever” by Heatwave.
@Astrochuck I had never heard that song, but it is beautiful. Very romantic! Good for a slow dance, huh?
Baby, You’ve Got What it Takes by Brook Benton and Dinah Washington. It is the most awesome love song ever written and funky to boot. Here, have a listen: http://tinyurl.com/4mev98
My ex and I had “2 Occasions” by the Deele or Babyface.
@Megan64— I remember that as a jumpy song. I love Dinah Washington. She died way too young.
My gf loves to romanticize the idea of love (and lovers) losing out to the practicality of being with more sensible partners. She also loves Barry Manilow. So, “Even Now” and “Mandy” are two of them.
We have 2. We kind of dedicated one each:
Thank You for Loving Me – Bon Jovi
10 Story Love Song – The Stone Roses
And yes, there are songs that I still associate with old loves. The most interesting one is probably an old relationship-of-sorts. I associated Always by Bon Jovi with it and only years later when I’d long since realized how unhealthy my attachment to that person was, I discovered that the song Always is actually about a very twisted individual and his obsession…....strangely appropriate.
@wildflower Interesting. That one could go into the coincidences thread, couldn’t it?
@Megan64 Love that song. My honey is at work now, and I called him and played part of it over the phone for him.
My ex-girlfriend and I used to listen to this song every Sunday Morning in our beds being lazy and cuddling till noon
My gf and I after seeing the Police in concert have “Every Breath You Take” as kind of our song.
@Kevbo: Wasn’t Mandy written about Barry Manilow’s dog?
@nagilum- Dude, you realize that song is about a stalker, right?
Time After Time, Cindy Lauper. We didn’t exactly know what she was talking about.
We liked the title because we were always exhausting ourselves and each other and then beginning again.
Annie’s Song by John Denver
savage garden : I knew I loved you ; we met over the Internet haha
@mirza Ah, Sunday. Newspaper, bagels, cream cheese, coffee and other activities you previously mentioned.
“Is This Love?” by Bob Marley. Also, Al Green’s- Lets Stay Together. When we argue and have had rough times he turns on Three Little Birds by Marley.. And we always feel better.
Me and my (ex) girlfriend’s song was “Barnacles” by Ugly Casanova.
My husband and my song is “Feed the Birds” from Mary Poppins – my husband isn’t much of a singer, but for some reason he likes to sing that song and make me dance with him. :) The only other “our song” that I had with a significant other was “Sweet Caroline”.
The first guy I dated, when I said, “We should have a song,” said, “Huh?” That should have been my first clue…
“When did you fall in love with me?” by Chris Rice. It speaks of a guy who is suddenly surprised that his S.O. has fallen in love with him one day while spending time together. Then he ends the song asking her, when exactly did she fall in love with him: “Was it at the coffee shop, or that morning at the bus stop—when you slipped and I caught your hand? Or the time we built the snowman? The day at the beach, sandy and warm? Or the night with the scary thunderstorm? I never saw the sign, now its time to make up for lost time!” I found it funny that he talks about doing so many things with her and never figures it out. The same thing happened with my wife and I. She confessed to falling in love with me weeks before I fell in love with her. ...sigh…
Our first dance song was “Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts, but there are a couple other songs that are significant, “The Chair” by George Strait, and “Bluest Eyes in Texas” by Restless Heart.
And I’m definately a “life should have a soundtrack” type of person, I have songs that remind me of past love, past pain, past events of all shapes and sizes. If people lived in musicals, I’d always be the crazy person singing her way from here to there.
Night Moves by Bob Segar and/or all summer long by kid rock
Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce.
“Lay You Down” by Conway Twitty. I hope he still feels the same way in another 20 years!
Stellar, by Incubus. Not a traditional “Our Song”, but that’ part of the reason why we like it. :)
Update for new S.O.: The broken road as performed by Rascal Flatts.
