I don’t know. According to this site there have been 21 near misses over the years; horses who have won the Derby and the Preakness but not the Belmont. But… it certainly could happen and I’ll Have Another is a great name for a horse that maybe could do it. Maybe I’ll Have Another will have another. :-)

And this guy is going to have to eat his words; he’s probably started already.

Will have to watch it on the news tonight.

Just watched it on Sporting News. Incredible race. Incredible the way he came from behind at the last minute. The jockey must be elated. I heard last time that he came from obscurity, he was racing in Canada. The owners must be thrilled they went with him. Apparently he knows the horse.

Woo Hoo….!!!

Not to be a buzz-kill, but did you know that an average of 24 horses die each week on racetracks?

@syz Yes, mixed bag, I am a horse lover but I also thrill to a good race, although I’d never own a racehorse because I do believe they are often broken down by running them too hard, too young. I’ve had horses come up lame from minor stumbles that have taken months to mend.

Officially the best horse in the world, I give you Frankel

@syz: I read that article when it came out. It was and is a great article and very sad for the horses.

I don’t gamble, go to tracks or do anything to give money to horse racing. However, when there is a big race, like the one on Saturday, I do enjoy watching it if I’m able and/or talking about it after the fact. I didn’t watch it on TV so you can’t say I gave the network my ratings, either!
