How do you send mass messages on FB?

Asked by LeavesNoTrace (5677points) May 21st, 2012

Hello,

I’d like to send a (non spammy) message to all of my FB friends regarding my new blog. I’ve tried Googling instructions but everything is outdated. Does anyone know the new protocol?

Best,
JB

Why not just post it on your page and your friends will see it on their feed.

@chyna Tried it. Was ineffective.

Just start typing each friend’s name into the “To” box and let the autofill complete each one. I think if you want to send to a “group”, then you need to have created the group ahead of time. (Not a “friends list”; that won’t work.)

@CWOTUS Thanks! I think I’m going to create a group of females 18–35 that I keep in touch with regularly who would be interested in the content I write.

You can message up to twenty Facebook friends or email addresses at once. However, if you are contacting someone on Facebook you are not friends with via a Facebook message, you can only message him or her individually. Source

If you decide to create a group, the only way to notify the members is by posting new information on the group site. A group does not have a feature to notify members by private messages. If a member turns off their notification alert, they will not see new posts until they visit the group site.
