Can you add to the list?

Asked by Trillian (21153points) May 23rd, 2012

I’m getting ready to buy a few tunes to make another mixed CD. (All part of my love/hate relationship with itunes, those bastards) I wanted something like Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s get it on”, And the Reverend AL’s “Let’s stay together”. You know, kinda sexy stuff. I would include a couple tracks of the Enigma 1990 album in there. I sometimes can’t remember stuff without prompting, and today is turning out to be such a day. I know that I know a bunch of songs with that particular theme, but I’m drawing a total blank.
After I see them, I’ll say “Gaaaahhh! Yes, I knew that!”
Do you have any suggestions?

There was this wonderful group, called Solo, I don’t know if you’re familiar with them, who popped up in 1995 with “their debut album” which I thought was amazing, then one more I think, that I didn’t like as much and then poof! I’m not sure what ever happened to them but you might like these. You know? Sexy stuff. :-)

Where Do You Want to Put It

This one start out with a little doo wop:

Heaven

You Keep Blowin’ My Mind

Xxtra (NC-17 :-)

@lillycoyote Oh my lord! That is EXACTLY the sound I’m looking for! I almost didn’t listen bucause, really; Where do you want me to put it? It just sounds…vulgar, like something I’d put on a very different type of mix if I could get over my revulsion.
They totally rock! Thank you.

You almost didn’t check out my links!?!? Would I steer you wrong? Marvin Gaye, Let’s Get it On, Al Green … those are my boys! I had a feeling you were looking for that kind of sound, from your question, and thought that Solo was the way to go. I just knew they were spot on. Honestly, @Trillian, if people would simply, finally, accept that I am generally right, most of the time, they could save themselves a whole lot of trouble and a whole lot bother, and the world would just be a better place, overall. :- )

And, BTW, I told you which one was the “dirty” one, Xxtra,. I clearly noted that one as NC-17. :-)

Solo was a group that popped out, into the world, and they were amazing, in my opinion, and then seemed to just disappear. And they never got a lot of radio play and that astonished me, considering how great that album was. I don’t know what happened to them. They had it down, with that album, and then that was kind of it. Their second album was good, but it didn’t have quite the same magic, I don’t think. I will have to see what has happened to them.

But it was kind of kind of the same way with Al Green’s Your Heart’s in Good Hands CD, that came out the same year, 1995. I am a big, big Al Green fan and that was the first non-gospel record he had put out in a long, long time and I also though it was amazing, but again, it didn’t seem to get that much airplay. In 1995 this music should have been all over the radio, both Solo and Al Green’s CD, but it wasn’t. I guess I was living in the Stone Age of pop music, even back then.

Maybe you know that Al Green CD, Your Heart’s in Good Hands, but it was 17 years ago … OMG!!!! How could it have possibly been 17 years ago! I am having a little attack, of some kind, now!

O.K., I’m over it.

But anyway, these aren’t really what you’re looking for, on this thread, but it’s the Reverend Al, and it’s always time for Al Green.

You’re Heart’s in Good Hands
Best Love

Love is a Beautiful Thing

This Could This be the Love

One Love

Yeah, I know, that’s a lot of love. Of the 10 songs on Your Heart’s in Good Hands,” 6 of them have “love” in the title and I couldn’t find _Your Love (Is More Than I Ever Hoped For) on youtube, and I love that one, but I had to leave it out, because it doesn’t seem to be available to link to.

Anyway, I rarely pass up an excuse to post music I like here, or anywhere else for that matter. I hope people can and will be patient and tolerant of me, and forgive.

If you haven’t heard this Al Green, enjoy!

And, listening to it again, there seems to be something wrong with the youtube version of Solo’s You Keep Blowing My Mind that I posted. It shouldn’t be that fast, and it’s skipping or something, though I don’t know, that might just be a just problem with my computer; it’s just not right, that’s all I know. You should be able to listen to a sample on iTunes which should be right, and decide whether or not it is something you want.
