What is your favourite spice or seasoning?
Pretty vague… I could mean in cooking, but then it depends on whether it’s sweet or salt food… Or maybe just the smell that’s your favourite, I have such a weakness for clove bud scents

Depends on what I’m making. There are so many different one’s that compliment different flavors.
I think my favorite for versatility and flavor is cumin.
It’s a toss up between basil and ginger. Both smell heavenly! Actually one is an herb and one is a root, does that count as a spice? I guess it does. Thank you, google.
Too much Garlic is almost enough!
For appetizers and entrees, garlic. For desserts, a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
My first thought was salt, same as @ragingloli. Aside from salt because maybe you aren’t counting that is I use a Adobe seasoning on meats before I bread it, if I bread it. And, on steak I use Good Seasons Italian Dressing seasoning packet dry rubbed on the steak (it’s delicious!). More than spices I use things like chili peppers, lemon, basil, and a few dishes with cinnamon and nutmeg.
My secret hot and sweet pork BBQ rub.
Salt is the spice that opens up the flavour of all non-sweet meals. Nothing would taste right without salt, so of course it the best spice.
I like to separate out the curry spices and use them separately. (I never salt anything.)
Cumin
Turmeric
Nutmeg
Cinnamon
Coriander
Cloves
Cardamon
I love fresh dill, tarragon, basil, cilantro, thyme, and mint.
Too Tall Tom’s Camp Mix
Delicious on vegetables, eggs, meat, fish – almost anything.
I also have met Tom, and he’s truly too tall (about seven feet).
On steak, Montreal Seasoning.
On everything else, Garlic.
@JLeslie: I grow dill in the huge pots where I have my tomato plants. It happily reseeds itself yearly. I snip snippets for salad dressing daily. It also works when I occasionally eat a little wild canned salmon (after giving Milo the juice, of course).
In the fall I dry lots of it to use over the winter.
Salt, for sure. After that, garlic, and lots of it. When it’s appropriate, I really like smoked paprika, too.
garlic, dried chillies and now cumin is the miracle drug of the month so I am using more of that!
My favourite is fresh coriander (the herb, not the spice). I think it’s cilantro in the US. Great with salads and middle-eastern or Indian food.
I also love garlic (especially pickled cloves), chillies, tabasco sauce, basil and of course salt. I put dried flaked chillies or tabasco on all sorts of things.
Rosemary. It’s delightful.
Seems cumin is pretty popular, it’s just so good.
I’d like to answer this, but I haven’t got the thyme….......
Too many to name, but I think I’ll go with Ginger – it works well in sweet and salty/spicy recipes, makes yummy beverages, and is goo for your tummy!
I can’t cook without garlic in savory dishes or vanilla in sweet dishes.
I love basil, rosemary, sage, and of course garlic is a given.
Odd that I really dislike rosemary. And I consider onions, their relatives, and garlic beloved vegetables rather than seasonings.
gailcalled Rosemary is a really strong flavor. I can understand it wouldn’t be for everyone.
Baby Spice. Ginger, Scary, Sporty, and Posh just don’t have her style.
^^ Hee Hee, I’d forgotten about those spices!
wasabi powder is great on popcorn, and it keeps most of my friends from wanting to share. :)
