Are politicians celebrities?

Asked by whiteliondreams (1717points) June 13th, 2012

I find watching the news to be irritating as I constantly watch the media make a mockery of what politics is supposed to be. Obama said this, well Romney said that. I understand that there is supposed to be a debate and there is supposed to be rebuttals, but to what degree must it become a television drama featuring Fox and Friends? sigh

Some are considered to be though they should not be. Their work is to serve the country and its nation and not to act like vain celebrities!!!!!

The party leaders are more or less obliged to be, in an increasingly media driven world.
“Barack Obama, come on down….your vice (Biden) is shite!!”

Indeed they are. How could they not be? People need to know them in order to vote for them, don’t they?

No, they are public figures though.

“Stop going on silly talk shows” Definitely not The View” is my advice to politicians. They should be interviewed but only as a press conference kind of thing.

“A celebrity, that means someone everyone knows.” I love musicals.

Lots of celebreties think they’re politicians. I’d say the line has become blurred lately.

The Republican primary campaign seemed to take the form of a “reality” show.
