Care to share your "Couch to 5k" playlist recommendations?

Asked by stardust (10565points) June 16th, 2012

I want to start the couch to 5k running programme as it’s been so long since I’ve ran and I’d like to get back into it.
I’m starting Monday so compiling a playlist at the moment. Does anyone have any song recommendations? I’m looking for motivational, suitably paced music to run to.

Can you give us some genre guidelines? I know some people who run to heavy metal, punk rock, pop music, etc.

@nikipedia Apologies. I should have mentioned that I like most genres, aside from hard core heavy metal or hard core dance. Otherwise, anything goes

Pop recommendations: Lady Gaga, especially Just Dance; Ke$ha, especially Your Love is my Drug; Scissor Sisters, I Don’t Feel Like Dancing
Alternative: Passion Pit, Sleepyhead
Non-hardcore dance: Daft Punk, there’s a live remix of Around the World and Harder Better Faster Stronger that really does it for me

The Crystal Method made a whole album called Drive that is very encouraging and uplifting for working out (and the first and last songs are entitled “Starting Line” and “Finish Line”!).

I used to find Jean Michel Jarre’s remixes great for running:

Megamix
Resistance D mix
Oxygene 8
etc.

Later I switched to mind.in.a.box:

Falling
Introspection
Run for your life
Stalkers
Certainty
Lost Alone
Out of Time

As I understand it the albums form a story of sorts, at least these three: Lost Alone, Dreamweb, Crossroads. Anyway, good luck with that playlist of yours ;-)
