@josie That is beyond cool. And he loves nature and the oceans. Is he looking to adopt any kids? I’m available.
While it might be fun to have your own island, Ellison has a personal reputation of being a total asshole. So he and has friends can enjoy the island- I will stay away.
@elbanditoroso Lots of successful people are labeled as assholes. Usually from people who are not as successful. But having said that, if Larry said, “Hey Josie, I am sending my private jet over so you can come to Lanaii for a week or two and crash in the guest house” I would be all over it. Asshole or not.
Lana`i is a remote island serviced by only smaller engine aircraft. I’ve never been there, and I don’t know anything about it in detail. What I do know is that unemployment is high, because the current owner of most of the land there, Rupert Murdoch, closed the pineapple farms, leaving only the 2 hotels for places to find work.
Life for the locals is a struggle. Groceries are limited to quite literally what the single store on the island has in stock. One week they may have chicken and the next week they may have steak.
If the new owner will improve the lot of the local population by giving them meaningful jobs, then more power to him. If he manages to drive them out, which most of the young people are doing, then he’s going to be cutting his own nose to spite his face.
I’d appoint myself chief….sorry, did I spit in your eye then?…...of police & hire a chap named Daniel as my deputy, just so I can utter the immortal line, “Book him Danno!!”
That would be bliss, for a while at least.
