Can anybody recommend an MP3 player that also offers wireless internet access?
I know that one option is the ipod touch. What do folks think of that one? Are there other ones that you would recommend? In addition to using it for music, I would like to be able to download an app that will help me know when the the bus is on the way.

Samsung Galaxy Player 4 or 5. The number is the screen width.
Or an iPod Touch with a 3 inch screen.
Obviously you need WiFi to connect to the internet with either device. But with all the businesses offering free WiFi as well as most public libraries that shouldn’t be toomuch problem.
I had enough issues with my old iPod Touch that I would go with the Samsung Player if not for the fact that I already have a Droid X and a 7” tablet. I’ve had good luck with Samsung in the past, and excellent luck with Android.
Like many, my tablet is wifi-only though, and there are areas where that won’t fly. It may work in major metropolitan areas like Downtown Seattle, but once you get out more than a couple of miles, the odds of finding an open wifi access point near a bus stop are not so great.
The OneBusAway app is cross-platform; iOS, Android, and others are all supported.
Also, here are some iPod Touch alternatives; all are pocket-sized, many can do a few things that no iOS device can do, and the prices are comparable. A 32GB iPod Touch will set you back $300, while the 8GB doesn’t have enough storage space to be useful. For $300, you could get a Samsung, a 32GB micro-SD card, still have money left over, and have more functionality.
