Is there a way for a site to recognize an IP address to prevent trolls from maintaining multiple user accounts?

Not too tech savvy here….but it seems like it should be doable….or only for a static IP?

It is tough if they use dial-up since they get a new IP each time they connect. But Zack is using SpeakEasy broadband (as far as I know) and probably has a static IP. Unless he is unplugging his modem every few minutes to get a new one.
.htaccess guys. Learn to use it.
@ jp, out of curiosity, how can you tell that he is using SpeakEasy?
I mod at a film-geek bulletin board, the admins there have been successful in IP-banning trolls and spambots.
@wabarr.. I would rather not discuss that.
You can’t track an IP address, all the admins can do is ban a specific user, OR (correct me if I’m wrong) if they are knowledgable on IP banning they can choose to ban a specific IP to prevent the person from access to the site.
Actually I think I was wrong above. Zack uses Road Runner. I just ran the location of all the people that viewed the image I posted in the other thread. The only one from Florida was using Road Runner.
Oh no, jp might know where i live! <Throws computer out window and runs to find shelter>
What is so big about Zack? He answered a few questions really well and has like 800 lurve. If he’s so “bad” why isn’t he banned? And why would you try to get his email source? Are you gonna go to his house and kill him? I don’t get the big deal.
Since you are new, you do not know the zack we speak of. Mtl_zack is a good user and not the person we are talking about. The zack we are talking about has been banned countless times over an innumerable amount of usernames.
