Do you take Amber Alerts seriously?

I don’t if they come into my email box, but this morning I got one from a local radio station concerning a 3 year old, Anthony Hernandez. I immediately passed it on to everyone I knew.

I was just fooling around looking at the weather….and there is the Amber Alert for Anthony (scroll down, to the right) who was abducted this morning by his father. I just think it’s awesome how fast it’s getting around. I’ll let you know when they find him….

Amber Alerts come across our Emergency Broadcast System on the television and radio. I have no reason to not take them seriously. I don’t get emails for Amber Alerts so I have nothing to pass on.

Crikey. Little Anthony is on Snopes home page. I’ve never seen an alert go so fast.

I live in Southern California, close enough to the border with Mexico to take them quite seriously. We’ve got those big lighted billboards all up and down the freeways, that’s where our Amber alerts get broadcast, also on the radio.
