Is it normal for a 3 month old baby to skip heart beats?

Asked by tan253 (2958points) July 5th, 2012

I just noticed that my beautiful bubba sometimes skips heart beats.
I noticed last night as I put my hand on her chest whilst she was sleeping as she looked so cute and I noticed that her wee heart sometimes skipped beats – is this normal?
I have an appointment next thursday with her pedi but thought I’d ask here as some mothers might know.
All her check ups have been totally fine…

Thanks!

I am not a doctor, but I would guess most likely it is not “normal” but could certainly be something benign and common. I’ve had a heart murmur since I was a baby, which is a small problem with a valve. I also have an arrythmia, that I became aware of as an adult, but most likely has been there since I was born. Both of my conditions are considered bengin and do not affect my life or abilities in any way. Possibly yhte heart is not actually missing a beat, but it is just how you perceive it. Good to check it out though.

You’re doing the right thing to get it checked out. Good luck.
