Are there any movies you feel need to be remade?
I am looking at the new Spiderman movie, which led me to dwell for a moment on the 3 recent Punisher remakes.
Is there a movie you felt had an intriguing plot, that was executed poorly, you wish a better director with more money would take up anew?

The Star Wars Prequels and Indiana Jones 4.
They need to be completely rewritten, recast, and redone. But most importantly, any trace of George Lucas’ influence must be purged without mercy.
If a movie was bad why remake it, conversely, if it was good why remake it?
I saw Cannonball Run a few months ago at a drive-in event and it was kind of fun. Hadn’t seen it in years. They could remake that one with new cars and popular actors from today. It’s not a work of genius, but I think it would sell tickets.
They are also remaking Judge Dredd, which was so bad a remake is probably a good idea.
They are remaking Robocop, which I think is a mistake.
I would like to see a quality remake of Day of the Triffids. Several have been made, but none stand up to the book.
The Avengers. The 2012 disaster.
I’m looking forward to “The Great Gatsby”, what will this be, like the 3rd remake in the last 70 years or so?
I have also been on a Netflix jag of old b&w Bette Davis films…that woman was SO amazing!
I wish they’d take a few of her old films from the 40’s and 50’s and remake them.
@ragingloli Had it perfect. Star Wars prequels must be remade while George is detained at the Moon for 5 years. At least.
The Batman franchise. Nolan did great but I want another director or writer to take a stab at it. Not so much angst, a bit less realistic and more, more, more action please!
The Shadow! Oh yeah. Tim Burton maybe. With Michael Fassbender as Cranston.
Splash. With Justin Bieber as the mermaid. Lol.
@Coloma: I am pretty excited/nervous about the new Great Gatsby as well.
I think it would also be very interesting to see a contemporary remake of the Grapes of Wrath… Maybe someone is already thinking about that.
Ben-Her, a biblical epic about the plight of a galley slave & his quest for gender realignment in the harsh world of sandals, smocks & questionable morals.
Charlton Heston is dead now, so maybe Barbara Bush for the lead role?
I’d love to see a good remake of Showboat. I don’t think the original was bad at all but i love the story so much that I would love it to be remade to give it a new lease of life.
Oh! Porgy and Bess had a great soundtrack, but Otto Preminger tried to film it as a play, which was difficult to watch. A redo would be terrific!
I agree with @Adagio, for the most part, although I agree with @ragingloli too (Indiana Jones IV wasn’t all that bad (the aliens and Shia LeBeouf need to go, though), but the second set of Star Wars films, bleah).
Hollywood has been intellectually bankrupt for some time now, but they seem to be cannibalizing their catalogs more and more these days. It’s very rare when a remake needs to be done, or is better than the original (the most recent example to come to mind is the Coen brothers’ version of “True Grit”; much more faithful to the book).
I suppose if we have to choose a film to remake, it’d be “Wild Wild West”. They never should have made it in the first place (you can’t beat Robert Conrad, for one thing!), but if they were going to do it, they should’ve done it right, not the unmitigated disaster they came up with.
