Pedometer users: How many steps do you take a day?

I have recently gotten a pedometer to try and increase the amount of steps I take a day. I am now trying to establish a baseline. Yesterday, I hit over 4700 steps. Today, I am well over 6500.
Do you keep track of such things?
How many steps a day is normal?

Congratulations, and good for you! Yes, I bought one as well, although it was meant for the SO who doesn’t own a car and proclaims that his job is to walk in circles all day. (And it sort of is.)
I haven’t been able to figure out how to set it properly based upon how it measures a person’s stride. I’ll give it another shot, based upon the inspiration from this question. If I decide to ditch this model, what type do you have?
I, too, wonder what brand you are using.
They are for counting steps? I always thought they were for measuring pedophiles
The brand is a Via Mini Sports Pedometer.
Between 5,000 and 15,000. Some days I don’t move much at all, but more often I get well over 10,000. My zumba class is about 5,000, so the days I zumba (usually 3–4 times a week) the number gets way up there.
Same-ish numbers as @JLeslie.
If I mow the lawn, do gardening or take a long walk I sometimes hit 20K or really close.
In winter, I have to try diligently to keep my numbers close to 10K. It’s more of a chore in Dec-Feb for me. I tend to stick to the bike and dvds, then.
I bought a pedometer once, with the goal of tracking how much I walked and aiming to reach the recommended level of 10,000 steps a day. In the first week, which was a totally typical week for me, I averaged 12,500 a day and only once was below 10,000. The top day was 18,000. After that I figured I didn’t need the pedometer, and ended up giving it to a colleague at work.
I have a pedometer on my ipod. But it’s stupid because I could count 10 steps, and it would say 3 steps. I don’t use it.
