Care to recommend a women's all terrain bike?

Good quality, yet not terribly expensive. Under $500.

Thanks!

Look for a low-mid range mountain bike. I have a Trek, my wife has a Novara (REI brand). Both were <$400 new.

Go to a local bike shop. Tell them what you want. Do not go to a sporting goods store. You might spend $50–75 more for what appears to be the same bike but it will be worth it. The bike will be well put together, and theshop will service it for you after you have ridden it for a little while and everything has settled. They will also make sure that the bike fits.

That being said, Giant and Trek offer the best bang for their buck. They sell a ton of bikes, so they are able to offer good bikes with decent components for a good price.

My wife loves her Kona. They sell for more than $500.00 new but she looked around for a short time and bought hers used for less than that. It was in great shape four years ago and still is now.
