Why would beer in a keg go flat?

My son came home from a party with a partially full keg of beer. He was instructed to finish it off, then return it.
We have noticed the beer (Blue Moon) is getting flatter each day.
Should we keep it under pressure?
We are keeping it in the refrigerator.
