If you are so smart, why are you wasting your time and energy on Fluther?

Commiting hubris seems to be pretty common on this site. So why waste your talents? Take them out to the streets and be a force to be reckoned with.

I’m on my break at work and bored. What’s your excuse? Oh and by the way I’m not so smart.
Ah, @josie… we don’t “commit” hubris, it’s a trap of being that we fall into sometimes.
But aside from being in possession of a good vocabulary, having been a sixth grade spelling champion, a fair hand on the deck of a sailboat and a decent typist with a loud mouth and some time on my hands… I’m not that smart guy. Or ambitious, either.
If I make money, my ex-wife takes it.
If I become famous, my ex-girlfriends tell horror stories to Oprah.
If I pick up young women, I have to explain my ex-wife took all my money.
So I will have a drink and spout off on some website where it is safe.
@josie I thought you might remember I’m not smarter than a chicken?
.@josie: Can you pick up corn with your pecker? I can’t.
@josie Oh fuck, I think I just figured out how to do it. LMAO. I’ll let you know.
Because so far, no one has offered to pay me to explain what so and so meant when he/she said X,Y or Z.
And I’m not smart enough or quick enough to go on Iron Chef.
I am here to practise English.
@zensky You hanging til 10? And it’s practice. It’s cool.
I am actually. I promised Daloon. I hate it – but I gave my word. Fucking party and all.~
By the way, one can use either an s or c in practice – and the verb to practise is even more common with an s. Check it out here with Oxford
That’s some balls guy. I give my word it’s the same. Do you want Daloon to host?
Rebel has dibs – but it depends on who sees it first. I hate the idea even but what the hell. It’s been a good run, so to speak.
Screw it, its a party enjoy. There’s some things that other’s enjoy for you. Let them have fun and you enjoy it too.
Yeah. I’m old. They got me, pardner.
@zensky I’m looking forward to it too. :)
I had to look up the word, “hubris” and I’m still not sure what it means.
@bkcunningham excessive pride or self-confidence:
Note – it is a mass noun
noun
[mass noun]
excessive pride or self-confidence: the self-assured hubris among economists was shaken in the late 1980s
(in Greek tragedy) excessive pride towards or defiance of the gods, leading to nemesis.

Boredom, mostly. I like to discuss. I also have a lot of questions. Fluther has always been good for those things. I also don’t think of myself as “so smart.”
Clearly, we’re all a buncha goddamn morons up in this bitch. And I do take my talents to the streets. Unforgettably, people don’t seem so interested in sword swallowing these days. Yeah yeah, why don’t I practice swallowin somethin else, I heard it all befoooooore…!
I love how @Symbeline has this ongoing conversation with herself.
She keeps saying shit about me.
Nah, with S it’s always good.
I’m not smart, but my arse is & well…........this is one pool in which to dip my toes.
Mmmm,thanks that’s food for thought.
I’m not all that smart and I use fluther as an excuse to not do housework.
Well, I personally have never claimed that I was a genius. Fluther is something that I do for about an hour a day, and maybe 3 to 5 days a week, with longer breaks at times depending on my work/nonwork routine. There aren’t too many around me who I can talk to about quantum mechanics or gender related issues. Most people around me don’t share my interests, by far, but even then my time on here is limited.
I should check Meta more often. If by hubris you mean telling disagreeing with people when one believes them to be wrong, then apparently I’m guilty, though I don’t feel lost.
If you mean the idea that one can identify the motivations of political figures or religious by news bytes and past anger and analyze them down to their toenails, I must decline.
I consider myself somewhat intelligent, and knowledgeable about some topics, others not so much.
I skip over here while other pages are loading. Then I get sucked in and stay longer than I mean to.
I don’t think of it as a waste of time. I’m enjoying myself, and hey, I might just help somebody.
Since it hasn’t been mentioned in 30 answers, I will repeat;
One cannot commit hubris.
I use my time here to both read and floss my teeth.
I’m one if those geniuses that is so smart, I’m actually bored with life and have no motivation as a result. Lol.
@gailcalled
GA. I am sure as we get older, our usage improves.
I’m here to rub my smarticityness in peoples’ faces, of course :)
@Blackberry Ooh, are you misunderstood too?!
Is this question a joke, or is josie once again pwning himself by asking something that doesn’t make sense/isn’t supported by reality?
I’m doing it less and less as real life is becoming more compelling.
Because I’m socially awkward.
Great question. I like understanding that other minds produce different answers.
