A couple of years ago I asked: what's your problem? Let's get to know the new jellies a bit / veteran's can update?

Asked by zensky (13421points) August 4th, 2012

Here is the original thread – and sadly, some have left us. It’s a good way to meet some of the old-timers and also see the playfulness of the community and its sense of humour, too.

So, jelly, what’s your problem?

Hmmm…. as I’ve aged, I’ve become less patient about waiting for some things. This is particularly trying right now as I am waiting to hear about a new job. When I left the interview I wanted to tell them, “Just hire me already! I can do this as well as or possibly better than anyone else you’ll find, so come on, just make my day!” I restrained myself however, and I’m sure it was for the best.

Physically… still short, still overweight (not grossly, but any extra weight gets a negative view in most of my world), still not pretty. Meh.

My problem right there
My problem right there
These women round here
Are my problem right there

And I could handle them all
But they don’t like to share
I got too much love
That’s my problem right there

Now I could stay up all night
No problem, ok
But I’m often inclined
To sleep through the day

In the shade of the heat
I can nap anywhere
And that’s gonna be
My problem right there

My problem right there
My problem right there
Brains, women and sleep
Are my problem right there

I don’t think there is enough space in this block to list all my problems, so I’ll sum up. I’m slipping into hypochondria covers my physical issues. I’ve am you must insert your own term for the psychological because I’m not qualified to use any terms that describe psychological conditions. And that said, my emotional IQ has dropped to -10 since joining this site.

Everyone on here refers to it as a collective. I don’t understand why everyone on here wants to do or be the same as the next person. When I joined I was amazed at the insightful, articulate and culturally unique participants, now I’m not so impressed. Is every word correctly spelled? Is every phrase and sentence grammatically correct? Is this answer respectful or politically correct? Have I toed that imaginary line?

My neck is stiff, and unfortunately, I can’t afford a massage.

Seriously, I live in paradise, I have a tiny income, I have food in the cupboard, and I have clean water to drink. I have no problems.

zensky's avatar

I’d massage ya buddy.

@DaphneT How/why has your e.q. dropped as a result of this forum?

ZEPHYRA's avatar

Mistakes, regrets, dilemmas, a constantly confused mind that never ever lets me rest!

It’s 4:30AM and I’m here. What do you think my problem is?

FutureMemory's avatar

@DaphneT I haven’t paid all that much attention to Fluther for the last 6 months or so, (I might be on here 15–20 minutes a week now, as opposed to 2+ hours every single day, a few years back), so I’m curious about you think is so different now than when you first joined? I wonder if any of it might be that the ‘honeymoon’ phase is over, and it’s just not as interesting anymore for you?

Well as I watch everyone I grow up with get “adult” jobs, making good salaries, moving away and living on their own and really becoming independant I can’t even afford to pay my monthly loans, am just about to end this yearlong unemployment drought (which is good) but I don’t know how to springboard it into something I can actually do for the rest of my life or even just make enough to not live at home.

Physically, I just can’t seem to shed these last 15–20 pounds after losing 30 easily about a year or two ago. I guess this as much an emotional problem as physical.

Growing pains of an otherwise wonderful 9-year-old daughter are driving me bonkers. I ask ya, when does the whining and negativity end?!?

Would it be wrong if I told her to shut the fuck up? It’s wrong I know – I won’t. But I’m very tempted.

downtide's avatar

Somehow I missed the original question.

Physically, I’m struggling with a severe and as-yet-undiagnosed bladder problem.

Emotionally I’m finding it hard dealing with my daughter’s boyfriend, who dislikes me intensely.

Everything else is hunky-dory.

zensky's avatar

@cprevite Of course, every child, and human being for that matter, is aworld unto their own. Each situation and every case – unique.

Having said that – of your nine-year-old, pre-pubescent, barely alive (a la A.A. Milne) child is already negative and whiney to the point of bringing you to verbal abuse – it’s time to reflect.

cookieman's avatar

@zensky: Consider me reflecting.

tedibear's avatar

@cprevite – I used to teach fourth grade and can tell you that this, too, shall pass. And be glad you only have one, I had 29.

cookieman's avatar

@tedibear: Ha. Thank you. I suspect it well.

zensky's avatar

Everything shall come to pass. Nyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

zensky's avatar

That was a long, irritating whine.

Unfortunately, I would have to write a 25,070,153,033 word essay to explain everything, so I’ll spare you the details and simply say that I’m doing my best to survive daily life as an average citizen, and not get myself killed or thrown in prison.

My physical ailments are too many too mention, so I’ll just say “ouch”.
The financial picture isn’t very rosy at the moment, and I’m in a bit of a panic about it. Anxiety rears its ugly head.

Other than that, though, things are good. I have lots of love, and lots to love.

There is so much that is bother me now than before. I now look like the bride of Frakenstein, due to all my scars from an accident that really hurt me last year. I still have cast on my leg. I miss my mom, and I really want things to go back to how they were. I know I am whining way too much But that is just some of my problems in a nutshell.

zensky's avatar

Big hug for those a-hurtin’

tedibear's avatar

@shego – First of all, you aren’t whining! It sounds like you’ve had a really rough time for a while now. Second, it’s nice to see you around again. :)

DaphneT's avatar

@FutureMemory, one bit I’ve noticed has been the plethora of questions as to why the new users are different than the ‘old’ users. It was perfectly clear that the questions were intended to allow the ‘old’ users a rant platform about how things have deteriorated since ‘new’ users joined. Any rant is meant to discourage positiveness and to discourage actual participation. It’s really disheartening to find it applied to new users after such affable welcomes when they start.

@zensky I seem to have mis-stated the case. The term I should have used is EI and this test result suggests that my EI may have improved due to exposure to Fluther-antics.

Physically, I have an ankle that snaps, crackles, and pops more than a bowl of Rice Krispies, and my hair is thinning at a mildly alarming rate. And I’m 25.
I am presently watching a giant man-child of a company grab a sharp rock and squeeze it until its hand bleeds, at which point it lets up, in an ongoing cycle that’s been going on for some time now. They’ve slashed hours again, and should be raising them back when they realize that one doesn’t cut staff to make profits. It seems like none of those guys down in Arkansas has even the slightest understanding of what makes a company work.
I have decided to frame the whole thing in terms of a hilariously incompetent super-villain. Imagine a Lex Luthor who can’t go ten feet without tripping and falling on his face.
