Is it true that Disney World only gives discounts to it's stock holders?

One of my coworkers is looking for Disney discounts. My boss, who would probably have access or know about this, said Disney only gives discounts to it’s shareholders. Is that true? There are no Disney discounts out there?

“Discount” is a rather broad term. Disney has package deals and other things that would count as discounts by any reasonable usage of the word. Though it was over 15 years ago, I know the only way my family was able to go to Disney World was through some sort of family discount.
AAA travel agents” have discount packages. Some include special hotel rates and for little kids, breakfast with the characters.
I get a discount as a Florida resident.
Military also receive discounted admission.
My brother-in-law and sister both worked there. They made our on-property hotel reservations and we got a 50% discount because we went off-season. However, if we had wanted park tickets (instead of having them walk us in) the discount is only what AAA gives.—Please note that this was 2001. Don’t know if it has changed.)
The company my husband works for gives Disney discounts. I don’t know if that includes Disney World, but we went to Disneyland last month and the tickets we purchased through the company were lower than any other discount offered online or AAA.
People already mentioned military and FL resident. My friend as an employee of ABC gets free tickets to Disney and 30–50% off on hotels and other items. Disney has special discount packages throughout the year, you can get on their mailing list.
I’ve worked at Disney World 3 times within the last 2 years (I did my internships there) and there are all sorts of discounts that people can get. As mentioned above, there’s AAA, FL resident, military, seasonal/annual passholder, cast member (Disney-speak for employee) and their family and friends which is the best discount rate and can be applied to almost everything Disney-related, anywhere in the world, etc. In addition, every so often Disney has special offers, such as free dining plan on certain packages and, believe me, it saves a ton of money to have the meal plan taken care of.
As a rule though, Disney is not famous for offering discounts on their products and most of the time you might have to get it through an approved third party and it might take a little digging and planning to find good discounts. Just be sure to keep an eye out for scams…there’s a lot of them out there.
