Do people suffer for their wrongdoings? Kind of like Karma?
Have you witnessed such philosophy/idea in action?
Provide your examples for whatever your opinion is about this subject.

In my personal life, no.
Those people who have hurt me have not suffered so far… and I don’t think they will.
But what kind of a person am I if I do want them to suffer? I mean, I’m not evil but it doesn’t make me much of a good person either does it?
Life’s life, shit happens. You just have to learn to get on with it, and avoid evil people.
Yes, but so have the good people suffered, so everyone suffers.
No more nor less than the average population.
When I think of the most evil person I can come up with, I think of George Bush 2. I don’t know what’s really going on with him now. We don’t hear much from him. It’s like he’s a non-entity now (not that he wasn’t a non-entity before). It doesn’t hardly seem fair to pick on him, but maybe being a non-entity makes him feel bad. More likely, he’s just having a wonderful old time playing golf or something. Or drilling oil. Whatever floats his boat. He can pretty much do whatever he wants and people will support him. So I don’t think he is suffering for all the pain he caused so many others. Then again, he’s not really responsible. The voters are responsible for putting him in office and boy! Are they suffering for that choice!!!
No, they haven’t. Some ‘wrongdoers’ aren’t even aware that they have done wrong.
Sure they have but the thing that got them finally had absolutely nothing to do with my situation. Sometimes bad shit happens to bad people.
I think many such people end up without realization of what their behavior has caused, and wondering why they are living and dying alone. They live out their senior years unreconciled with the world and their families.
I really don’t think so. I really like to think that someday those who I have witnessed doing almost unspeakably evil things will realize what they did and the suffering at the hands of their own conscience will be karma enough. That being said, the most reprehensible people I know don’t seem to even have a conscience so that is probably just a naive dream of mine. One thing though, in my experience the truth does tend to win out so (on a micro-scale at least) when someone tries to get the upper-hand with lies and deception, it typically doesn’t work out very well.
Many bad people don’t suffer the results and don’t even think what they do is evil. Will they be punished in the after life? We’ll never know, as long as we live.
Evil and good – all suffer, regardless of their deeds.
The most evil people I know about are Henry Kissinger, and virtually all of the Bush family and they all seem to be doing fine. There is no ‘natural” form of punishment for evil.
I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints. The sinners are much more fun. Suffering is everywhere and bad things happen to good people every day.
Ah, @jca, but they never told you the price that you pay for things that you might have done.
Well, my evil ex husband ended up with a woman named ” Karma”, and yes, she was a bitch. lol
@Coloma: That’s just all kinds of awesome.
@cprevite Funniest thing ever! Remember that 90’s TV show ” Dharma and Greg”? Well..this was ” Karma and Craig!” I almost had an aneurism when I found out about the relationship, humor induced. Just too perfect wouldn’t you say! lol
Not any more than anyone else. The idea that life is fair is a comforting fiction. If you’re religious, maybe you believe in retribution in the afterlife, but I believe that life is pretty much a crapshoot and it’s all what you make of it.
All this theory of people with bad deeds suffer in life is bull…. Nobody that I know of so far has suffered.
Karma, what goes around comes around, is all crap. We make our own luck no matter what personality types.
Whether a person is considered evil or not, the truth is that all humans make mistakes, and bad things happen to everyone. What is interesting is how quickly a circumstance can be labeled as karma, luck, coincidence, or fate. I don’t believe in any of them. For every example of karma, there is another similar case that can support the opposite, if not more.
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Of course it is true. You reap what you sow.
No, the worst of the worst don’t suffer, because they don’t care. And that is why they are able to hurt so many people, easily because they simply don’t care and may actually get a charge out of it.
This is completely going by my own experience of having to deal with several horrendous people over my lifetime. Those people are living it up having a great time, making great livings, and not giving a damn about anyone else, but themselves. And because it’s so easy for them to lie, or skirt the law, they also never get caught or punished. Also, because they’re so powerful, monetarily, even the wronged persons can’t bring a case against them. The wronged persons would be ruined financially and emotionally if they tried to bring a case against the evil doers.
And Dick Cheney seems pretty content.
@Coloma
Haha! Your contribution made me laugh.

I don’t believe in karma or some majestic balance in life. However I would agree with what @bkcunningham said. I believe our each action is like tipping a Domino. Tip the wrong ones and you end up in a bad situation. It does not always work that way but to me it seems logically sound.
