Any song by the Soupbone Throne
I’m an oldie but goodie 70’s girl who likes everything from classic rock to bluegrass, blues, jazz, country rock and I adore the 90’s venue.
I love Green Day, their 21 guns CD rocks!
I also love Tom Petty, old Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, jeez, I’d have to look at my collection as I am terrible with total recall of all the music I like.
My daughter has downloaded about a gazillion albums on my computer, enough for a lifetime of listening pleasure.
I like the Nimbooda Nimbooda (and the dance scenes) from the Bollywood movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Maybe I’ll see the movie one day…
@CWOTUS SCOTS, local boys (and girl)!
Lately I’ve been loving the jazzy tune Crossroads by The Eat. It’s from the French movie Angel-A but I’ve never seen it. Anywho I love the song.
Lately I’ve been really into Mumford & Sons, Foster the People, and Fujiya & Miyagi (Transparent things + Collarbone are very awesome songs).
My all time favourite is No One by Alicia Keys but current favourites are Payphone by Maroon 5 and Mean by Taylor Swift.
At the moment, in no particular order, and probably in need of an update by the time you read this…
Lady of the Lake – Rainbow, Long Live Rock ‘n ‘Roll
The Wolf – The Cult, Choice of Weapon
I Don’t Want This Night To End – Luke Bryan, Tailgates & Tanlines
Try To Find Me – Gorky Park, Gorky Park
Only One Who Waits – Insomnium, One For Sorrow
One Last Thrill – Slash, Apocalyptic Love
A Man on a Tractor – Rodney Atkins, If You’re Going Through Hell
Don’t Believe Her – Scorpions, Crazy World
Promised Land – Queensryche, Promised Land
Captain Morgan’s Revenge – Alestorm, Captain Morgan’s Revenge
Muckalee Creek Water – Luke Bryan, Tailgates & Tanlines
@wonderingwhy If you like that kind of music I have lots more recommendations. :)
Since you like Trampled by Turtles you might be interested in my Newport Folk Festival story.
This year I went on Sunday when it was threatening rain all day. At the ferry they had a table with stuff for sale like umbrellas and raincoats and suncreen and sunglasses. One side said Pessimists and the other side had a sign saying Optimists. It was very overcast all day but the rain was holding off. Trampled by Turtles came on stage. They did a couple songs then launched into Midnight on the Interstate. It was magical! The clouds parted and rays of sunlight started streaming down! Seagulls flew back and forth overhead crisscrossing the skies over and around the stage. It was the kind of moments you hope for and can’t force to happen. And strangely enough, when the song was over the clouds rolled back in and the sunlight was gone. I wil always love that song even more because I had that moment.
Later in the night, just before Jackson Browne came on the rain couldn’t hold back anymore! It came pounding down in sheets. People had cardboard boxes over their heads and we all stood in the rain listening to Jackson Browne. A different kind of magical to be sure!
New Hampshire Hornpipe by Dave Grusin (from the movie On Golden Pond). I’d recommend hearing it on grooveshark.com first before watching this video (which is a good video, but it has two pieces of music – both good – and some introductory narration). The video is especially good because of the orchestral version of the music, though.
And since I’m doing some oldies today, there’s always Whispers of the North by Gordon Lightfoot.
Azure Ray
I don’t think I’ve heard anything from them that I would say “I did not like that.” That’s unusual.
