This was technically yesterday, but I saw my doctor and it was a good visit. I had been on an immunosuppressant all summer trying to heal up a fistula, and it did nothing for me. Towards the end of the summer I started antibiotics and immediately became way less symptomatic. At the visit yesterday, given this information, he agreed getting off the immunosuppressant seemed prudent. So I’m back to not being on any scary medication, and my problem is actually being addressed. Best of both worlds.
As for other news in the life of Mariah (I’m not finding much time to come on here and post updates) I got my first paycheck for my calculus tutoring job, which is, in fact, my first paycheck ever. Was too sick to care about finding work in high school. It’s awesome to finally have something for my resume (was starting to freak out about that a bit), it’s awesome to receive money I earned, and to receive money for doing something I’m truly enjoying and would honestly do for free.
Also, I may have discovered my drawing niche. I’ve been trying to get good at drawing for years, and feel I’ve remained mediocre despite my efforts. Since I’ve gotten so into birdwatching lately, I decided to try drawing some birds. I’ve found I love it, am pretty decent at it, and can whip them out quite fast. Due to this new hobby, my collection of finished drawings from 2012 is now larger than that from 2011 and 2010 combined! That feels good.
I’m going to be applying for a program in which I would get to do a bit of travelling this summer for a school project.
My boyfriend and I have been together 6 months today and we are talking about taking things up a notch. He understands that my health problems create an extra layer of concern, but he’s been such a patient boy, and my doctor said yesterday that it’s okay to try. I’m nervous, but at the same time…it’s just another way in which my life is becoming more normal than it has ever been before.
If you haven’t gathered already, I’m really happy. Thanks for reading my long gloating spiel.
