Does the laser track from the outside to the center as with a vinyl record, and which song is first, at the edge or closer to the center?

I have two different players that dick up the first one or two songs and it isn’t every disk it happens to. Once they get past these they both do ok.

Center to outside, the first song is towards the center.

Vinyl records are read from the outside towards the center. That I know for sure, because I am old enough to have regularly used my own record player while I was young. CD’s are from the center out towards the edge from what I have read.
