This question is about a couple of rhymes my grandmother used to say to me.

Asked by tacres (559points) September 9th, 2012

I remember these as something my gran would recite to me as a small child. Have no idea about the actual spelling . It seems to me they were finger games? I can’t even be sure if they were old nonsense poems from the old country (Ireland ) or if they were just something she made up. Any way here it goes.
First one.
Eery, Orry, Ickery Ann,Philisy Phallicy Nicholas John,Quever, Quaver, Irish Mary, Stinkilum Stompolum, Bea,Bob Buck.
Second one.
Chickapea, Penny Rue Rudy Whistle, Eery Ostle & Old Tom Thumble
You’ll have to cut me some slack here. Gran died when I was seven & that was a half a century ago. Just curious if these ring a bell to any one. Thanks to all.

Was the first one: onery, twoery, sickery, sin, hollybone, crackybone, wheelberry, blackstone, tallberry, ten?

It is a counting rhyme with many variations.

The second one you listed is a variation of the Big Tom Bumble Toe Game.
