I have seen things on TV about this ‘amazing’ food processor but I wondered if any jellies have one or have used one? Are they worth the investment?

Ahh but when you realise a food processor can cost $800 plus say a mixer machine ($650), blender $150, bread maker $who knows, plus other kitchen things. Not that I am convinced hence the question. I have seen all these ‘this thing is amazing!’ stuff and wondered if they are as good as the advertising suggests. I need a new food processor and was stunned to see how expensive they now are.
I don’t have one but previously came across mentions of them and decided to do some research. They’re pretty amazing and their reputation seems well deserved. They do so much more than any food processor or Kitchenaid appliance.
The other advantage is German manufacturing and design for kitchen appliances has such a great reputation for reliability and durability.
Theres a good info piece on About.com as well as an article in the Wall Street Journal by a writer who does have one and talks about its many uses. Just Google it and both references are in the first page.
Professional Chefs rave about it and they are notoriously fussy about their equipment. For the regular cook, I think that the issue of whether the cost is justified for the home user would depend upon how much cooking you do and what types of tasks you would be needing it for.
I have yet to read any reviews from those who found the Thermomix unsatisfactory for any reason. A few commenters asked owners about how difficult it is to clean and apparently thats no problem at all (similar to putting in a drop of dish detergent and running it would be with a blender)
Are you aware that they do home demonstrations (similar to Tupperware parties)? Perhaps if you host a demo, they’ll give you a discount. Let us know what happens.
