I know that they're terrible for you, but I love sugary cereals; what's your favourite?

Man, I could go for some Count Chocula right now.

I am COUNTING DOW THE DAYS to the first Thursday in October – when my local Publix gets its only yearly shipment of Count Chocula. Last year I got the last five boxes.

… and by “dow”, I meant “down”

It’s been years, but my favorites when I was a kid (and occasionally dream about)...

- Nerds Cereal (discontinued)
– Fruity Pebbles
– Lucky Charms

Buttonstc's avatar

Cinammon Toast Crunch, fortunately available everywhere (at a horrendously inflated price)

I try to console myself with the fact that emblazoned prominently on the box is the phrase “whole grain”. In reality it’s a fairly ubiquitous phrase with pretty imprecise meaning but designed for consumer appeal :)

Cocoa Krispies. I like Lucky Charms, too, but I tend to eat just the marshmallows. Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes are also grrrrreaaaat.

Unfortunately I don’t do these anymore – not on my diet. Just boring stuff like Grape Nuts.

Blackberry's avatar

Trix and fruity pebbles.

I cast my vote for Cocoa crispies too. I actually bought a box of Corn Pops recently, for the first time in probably 5 years, seriously. Sugared cereals are like Pop Tarts to me. A rare treat but so good! I used to only eat Pop tarts when I went camping, and since I don’t go camping anymore I have no excuses. haha

Frosted Mini Wheats or their generic equivalent.

muppetish's avatar

Choco Zucaritas! It’s the most delicious chocolatey cereal ever. Other than that, the only cereals I really eat are Honey Nut Cheerios and Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds.

Coloma's avatar

@jca Oooh, yes, frosted mini wheats…damn you people, now I want cereal. lol

Life Cereal. Yum!

The only way I have cereal is dry as a snack with no milk, so I tend to go for the sugary crunchy ones anyway. Cinnamon Grahams are my favourite but they’re also my partner’s favourite too.

I once ate an entire (large) box of Sugar Puffs, although to be fair, I was also smoking weed all evening.

Seaofclouds's avatar

Cinnamon Toast Crunch is my favorite. I also like Frosted Flakes, Fruit Loops, and Lucky Charms. We always have cereal in the house and I always have a box of one of those on hand.

I’m also a Count Chocula fan. I avoid it because I’m not a fan of rotting my teeth, but I looove this cereal whenever I do decide to have some. Man all the marshmallows and your milk turns all brown lol.

Gotta love the count, too. I mean just look at him. He’s crazy.

If you look him up on the internet, it’s really interesting to see all the changes he’s been through.

I don’t eat cereal at all anymore, but my favorites were Corn Pops and Cocoa Krispies.

I had a recipe where I took any style chocolate ice cream, made it into a ball, rolled it in cocoa krispies and drizzled it with chocolate syrup and a bit of caramel. Sooo decadently yummy if your body can take the calories! (I definitely can’t)

My hubby wants to know -

He seems to remember a werewolf cereal in the same family as Count Chocula, Frankenberry and Boo Berry. Does anyone else remember it? What was it called?

linguaphile's avatar

Fruit Brute but then Fruity Yummy Mummy replaced it—

Seek's avatar

Thank you! It was discontinued in 83. No wonder I don’t remember it.

Frosted Flates. They’re Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cookieman's avatar

Captain Crunch
I haven’t had it in years

mangeons's avatar

I don’t think I’ve eaten any kind of sugary cereal all year, but in previous years it was a staple in my diet, perhaps the thing I ate most!

I’m honestly not sure that I could pick a favorite. My favorites to eat in milk were Honeycombs, Cocoa Puffs, Trix, and Froot Loops. My favorites to eat dry were Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Fruity Pebbles.

However, I think my all time favorite cereal (that was sadly discontinued many years ago) was the Cap’n Crunch Choco Donuts cereal. It was as bad for you as it sounds (probably worse), but it was so delicious! I was devastated when they discontinued it.

These days the only cereal I ever eat is Cheerios (with skim milk and no sugar) but even that is very rare.

Sorry for writing a novel, I just take sugary cereals very seriously~

I don’t care for sweet cereals, but I thrown mini chocolate bits and dried blueberries into my shredded oats. Added sugar isn’t necessary.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Frosted flakes.
Honey Nut Cheerios.

gasman's avatar

Honorable mention: Sugar Crisp.

filmfann's avatar

I used to love Cocoa Puffs, but they changed the recipe, so now it’s whole wheat. I don’t like the new one as much.
My wife found a place to get Alpha Bits. I love that.

chyna's avatar

Captain Crunch. But since I don’t drink milk, I never tried very many cereals.

Coloma's avatar

^^^ I can’t help but think of my old BLM rescue Burro ” Minnie Pearl” who would only walk with the kids on her back if you bribed her with a bag of Cap’n Crunch.
Captain Crunch on a string, the only goodie that could move that ass. lol

gailcalled's avatar

Steel-cut oatmeal with a little dark amber maple syrup and a few raisins.

Coloma's avatar

@gailcalled You wanton hedonist you, for shame! ;-)

Dsg's avatar

I don’t eat cereal unless its as a snack with no milk. Just like @downtide minus the grass. Lol
My favorite cereals to snack on is lucky charms and oh’s. I love the marshmellows in lucky charms. Yummy.

gailcalled's avatar

@Coloma: It’s certainly more bacchanalian than eating Captain Crunch.

chyna's avatar

^Hmmph! Looking up definition of bacchanalian.

Dsg's avatar

@chyna so what’s the definition.

chyna's avatar

@Daisygurl bacchanalian – used of riotously drunken merrymaking; “a night of bacchanalian revelry”; “carousing bands of drunken soldiers”; “orgiastic festivity”

Coloma's avatar

Okay…everyone strip and jump into a giant vat of @gailcalled ‘s oatmeal and maple syrup. Kinky Gail! ;-p

Mama_Cakes's avatar

@Coloma I think that I’ll pass. ;)

Dsg's avatar

@chyna…..so basically piggin out!

rojo's avatar

@chyna Try it with yogurt. I use this with granola.

augustlan's avatar

Oh, god. Cereal is my downfall, and I could eat it three times a day (if I weren’t lactose intolerant. Sigh.)

My current favorite is probably Reese’s Puffs. Chocolate and peanut butter goodness! My all-time favorite is Boo Berry. Even though it turns your poop green. And why not blue? Weird, right? Good thing that one is so hard to find.

AngryWhiteMale's avatar

I’m surprised you didn’t name this thread The Breakfast Club. ducking tomatoes

I don’t eat cereal anymore, but when I did, I loved Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerios, Rice Krispies, and Cap’n Crunch Crunch Berries.

majorrich's avatar

Fruit loops and/or Life. I often eat them mixed.

Coloma's avatar

@majorrich You win for most bizarre sugary cereal combo. lol

Dutchess_III's avatar

AUGGIE!!! THEY’RE GETTING NEKID AGAIN!!!!!!

Kardamom's avatar

I’m more of a Grapenuts kind of gal, but if I did have to pick a sugary cereal it would be Captain Crunch.

majorrich's avatar

My wife Tries occasionally to get me to eat sticks and twigs (my term for ‘grown up’ cereal). One I recall was something like ‘Uncle Sam’ which I called stones and gravel. I threw the box away lol.

augustlan's avatar

We now have two boxes of Reeses Puffs in the house. Hell yeah!
