Where are some good resources to find stats in a large range of topics?

Asked by Anythingnew (46points) October 11th, 2012

So I think about a lot of subjects but often don’t know the reliant places to search for the stats?

I don’t mind if it’s a specific resource like a website to the world health organisation for health stats and then you can list other resources to find other stats.

You need to give some guidance on what it is that you’re looking for.

For example, you’re unlikely to find “cup sizes for all Playboy playmates of the month” and “gross national expenditure on laxatives in the 19th century, by country” in the same place, I wouldn’t think. On the other hand, now that they’ve been mentioned together, I shouldn’t be surprised to see that stuff juxtaposed some day, either. Not that I’ll be looking for it.

Welcome to Fluther!

The quality of statistical data seems to only be valuable when it comes from an independent source. The team designing, developing and deploying the information needs to be properly trained.

One company that has these factors is The Gallup Organization. Here is a link to one example: Germans Exercise More than Britons, But Eat Less Healthy.

@CWOTUS
It could be delays for each Uk train company per route or anything. you could just give advice in saying use google

Oh, yeah, welcome to Fluther. I missed that earlier.

Actually, “Use Google” is a disapproved answer here (since it’s akin to an insult, as in, “You damned fool, just Google it!”)

As to your specific request, there you go.

For US stats, the Statistical Abstract of the United States is the go to resource.
