How do I set up my iPhone as a new phone?

Asked by Lost_World (1231points) June 5th, 2008

Ok I messed up my iPhone, I have asked on every site I know (including this one) and no one will help me. How can I just clere my iPhone and set it up agen. From what I can see this is the only thing I can do.

You have to click the “restore” button when you plug it in, and then when it’s done restoring there should be an option to set it up as a new phone, or from a backup, and set it up as a new phone. That should work.

You can back the phone up before hand, and restore all those settings and information, but that may bring back whatever software issues you’re having.

You can try restoring it from the backed up information, that may fix whatever’s wrong, but if not, restore it as a new phone and enter your information manually.

This is my full problem:

My iPhone is suck on recovery mode. I have tried all sorts of things and nothing is working. I first had the 1604 error when restoring it and I now have the 1611 error. iTunes is not helping me. My iPhone is 16GB 1.1.4 and I have a MacBook OSX 10.5.3.

Some people on fluther are sticks in the mud, don’t worry, I had this exact problem, and I couldn’t figure out what to do either. I had to call apple, and that service costs several hundred dollars.

My phone started echoing when I talked on it, so I was told to recover it. When I tried, though, it got stuck on a little box that said “preparing iphone for recover” or something. I didn’t want to disconnect, I was afraid it would fry my phone or something, but it sat on this screen for hours. What I did was to just disconnect the phone, and restart my computer forcefully (because iTunes was stuck even after I unplugged the phone), and then the phone went back to it’s primal state of making emergency calls only, and had that globe background again.

I plugged it back in, and the computer recognized it as a new iphone, and offered to restore it with my backed up iphone information, or as a new phone. Depending on what your previous issue was, as I said earlier, choose one of these options, and It should be back to normal.

This was my situation anyway, and what I did.
